Football is a business, they needed to strengthen.
So contrary to all the comments about several clubs considering a move, and the club stating that their prize assets would NOT be sold during the January window, this suggests rightly or wrongly that City had accepted a bid and it was only Bowen who turned it down? If that was not the case, then Bowen wouldn't have had a decision to make!

So they approached the player and / or his agent without first approaching the club?
Did anyone believe for even one split second that the owners would not sell the likes of Bowen and Grosicki had reasonable offers been tabled? Of course they would.

That, together with possibly thinking they could hold out and get a better deal elsewhere ..... coz we know they are masters of negotiation when it comes to football matters.
I'm convinced they would had sold the likes of Bowen had anything like reasonable offers been received, and the player involved been willing. The owners would of course simply had said 'we had no choice; the players head had been turned'.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but for even tentative discussions / contact to have taken place, the club must have been approached and sanctioned such discussions, otherwise Cardiff and the agent have broken rules? If so, there's the proof that the owners were open to a sale.
All a bit academic anyway .... the Allams have proven multiple times, and continue to prove, they are compulsive liars.
