WTF are you talking about ???

This was Bielsa's response to question from a journalist (after QPR) about whether he was worried about the team losing energy at this important time of the season...clearly shaking his head in disbelief at the question and I quote;

" Your question has no basis, if you watched the game then you would see that this team has too much energy...and you are telling me this team has lost energy. What our team has shown in every game is that we have an excess of energy and it's clear you don't know what you're talking about as if there is something this team doesn't lack it's energy. If you look at the figures if there is a problem this team does not have it's a lack of energy, even if we have problems, as all teams do and it's not an opinion, just look at the figures and draw your own conclusions "

Does that sound like a coach who is was unhappy with the effort of his players ?

Your interpretation of what people actually say is not just ridiculous but also insulting. The best coach we have had in years, if not ever and you take his words and twist them to suit your own agenda that is we lost because of a lack of effort by the players.

Hence my disgust which I think is fully justified.
Lol back already,you weren't gone long.
The question to Bielsa was implying we lost because we were tired and exhausted,this wasn't the reason we lost,is what Bielsa was saying,he didn't say he was happy with how we played and he clearly wasn't,he sorted the problem and I'm sure he didn't do it by telling them they were great against QPR.
The most loyal fans who go home and away,not 2-3 miles and were at QPR let the players know at the end it wasn't good enough,maybe that was the reason for the big improvement on friday.;)

Let's clarify effort.
Effort comes in 2 forms in my book
Physical effort
And mental effort
I don't think many would dispute the fact that the physical energy levels of the team are proberbly the best in the league.
Against QPR I would suggest that for whatever reasons they were not in the mental zone.
Not knocking any individual player, but the team were not on their usual form.

Sure someone can find this out,show us how many KMs the team covered at QPR and how many they covered against WBA.

Here are some of the things you posted after the QPR match and again I quote directly;

" team with no balls and spineless, disgraceful crap tonight "

" we only ask 1 thing and that is they give 100%. Do that and lose we accept, powderpuff 30% stuff don't "

" some of them could probably run a marathon after resting for 90 minutes during the game "

" our team has started to think they can win games with 50% effort "

" lazy lack of effort and desire from the whole team is not acceptable. Anyone can have a bad day, 11 all at once no "

Some incredulous comments there about a team that is having it's best season in a generation...yet what is worse is that you continue to stand by them as you fail to justify what was an outrageous attack on the commitment and desire of our squad of players.

There isn't a manager in the country who doesn't bollock his players after a below par performance, would that be disgusting? I've said it before, some fans take defeat harder than others and vent their spleens, some go over the top, that doesn't mean they love their club any less than someone who doesn't care about a **** performance

Following our defeat to QPR a number of posters were of the opinion that the players collectively gave less than 100%. The accusations included a lack of mental preparation for the task at hand as well as a lack of physical effort on the pitch during the game.

Well, my fair weather friends your comments and observations frankly display a total lack of understanding of the mission our club is currently undertaking to regain our place in the upper echelons of professional football.

To those of you who defended both the players and the performance I applaud you. Clearly you're aware of the amount of effort that has gone into this season from the moment Marcello Bielsa was appointed as head coach. No stone has been left unturned in the pursuit of success and all the players, coaching staff and indeed the entire club as a whole have been at one in trying to achieve this season's objective of promotion.

Everyone on a public forum is entitled to their opinion but if that involves criticizing my/our club and players I believe are fighting with everything they have, then you should fully expect to be challenged over those views. However, I've no stomach whatsoever to argue with people who are not 100% with and behind the best and only club worth supporting so I'll be leaving you all to it and each other...enjoy.

So who, specifically, do you mean? Or is this just a drama queen flounce off the forum for a while?

I sense that there is an element of ‘casual effortism’ about this thread and that the jamster has merely lit the touch paper after a few sherbets and stockpiled the popcorn.

If I thought Jammy arrogant enough to consider his opinion more valid or important than mine, his disgust would disgust me.

It's a wind up, wind up. <cheers>

Yes and it was true,you're confusing one game with the season,which has been great,QPR was crap,and not good enough against a very poor team.Critisize when ****,applaud when good or done there best.We lost 4-1 at WBA yet imo played twice as well as at QPR,just everything they did went in.We've lost games when we didnt deserve to,when this happens I never critisize,but when a crap team who didn't even play that good deservedly beat us by being better at pretty much everything I was not happy.It's because I care that it makes me angry,maybe you don't care enough.<laugh>

I suppose looking back I could have played things differently...

It does after all take time to be understood so perhaps it would be too much to expect on here :emoticon-0138-think

Agreed there is no way Bielsa went to the players after the QPR defeat and said chin up “better luck next week” they would have got a severe bollocking from him. I watched a Pontus interview a good few weeks back, they asked what Bielsa was like and he was full of praise. They touched on half time team talks, Pontus said nobody dare utter a word, Bielsa talks non stop, if anyone interrupts they get a stare and told to shut up. Bielsa doesn’t take prisoners.
Must take ages though talking through an interpreter:grin:
