Good. wasn't expecting it but glad it has been, he's proved to be a very important member of the team and seems to genuinely like being here.

Does that mean they aren't extending the contracts of the other players that can leave in the summer ?

At the end of the hard-fought tussle on Tuesday, he went toward the N stand and did one of those embarrassing Wagner/Huddersfield/Continental curtain call type celebrations..

After making such hard work of a modest but determined opponent who had been permitted to gain the upper hand, I felt the triumphalist congratulatory gesture was misplaced bordering on ludicrous.

My initial thought was 'GTF silly ****,that was Millwall not Milan'.

Jury's still out.

While I suppose this shows a rare modicum of modest ambition, as Nigel obviously rates him, must say I'm underwhelmed by this I'm afraid. Presumably means he will be captain and undroppable next season as this, when I really think we can do better.

A hanging jury on all fronts no doubt ?

No, it means that he can’t walk without us getting a fee for him.
That’s all
If no one wants to buy him then he stays for a year, which is fine by me because I suspect we’ll have our usual lack of players going into the season.

Do better? Can we? Who are you thinking of? Wouldn't it mean having to pay? Do you think the Allams would pay? Would a quality player want to come here?

Positive news..

Ashbee is the gold standard for captains at our club and a bit like comparing other US presidents to Abe Lincoln, the bar is very high.

So in the current context of mid-table Championship - he's a good midfielder who has shown improvement in grit and involvement but as a captain, there's still something which doesn't convince me about him but I can't quite put my finger on it.

His inconsistency.
