We went glamping once. They make you pay for three nights minimum. First night was OK. Second night was just about bearable. Third night I was ready to sack it off. One night I slept in what could best be described as a coffin. Costs as much as a decent hotel. **** that, won't be doing it again.

Fyi for hakone, it has hot springs and is a few hours from tokyo as well as on the way to kyoto. I think its pretty busy at the weekends because it caters to people in tokyo who want to go away for the weekend.

I stayed in a nice little ryoken where the guy couldnt speak english but there are some that get quite expensive.

If you want off the beaten track theres definitely more off the beaten track places than osaka or kyoto. I really liked kyoto cause the city still has loads of old buildings but its key tourist sites for all the old temples are littered with tourists.

If you want more info/my itinerary pm me and im happy to help.

If you want a cheap skiiing trip, try Poland and the Czech republic. Plenty of good slopes and cheap as chips accommodation/food/drink/car hire etc.

In terms of the OP I'm not really sure what I'm going to do this year, Nowhere is really jumping out to me tbh My mum loves to travel so when I was a kid I got taken to loads of different places all over the world, think I'd visited every continent bar Antartica before I was a teenager, maybe that was overkill and I'm just not fussed by the whole visiting loads of different places thing.

If you're going to Orlando go in early November. That's when I'm usually there for conferences.

Hardly any crowds if you go before thanksgiving and the weather is perfect in November. Not too hot and humid but still warm enough for shorts and t-shirts and the water rides.

The experience is different if you go with someone who knows what they're doing and you have the right equipment.

Was an amazing trip to be honest. Got some mates who are climbers so they wanted to climb Half Dome, which was at my level (loads of people do it) and then go off into the back country to climb some more tricky faces. You see loads when you get into the wilderness in Yosemite. I saw Bears with their cubs, Coyotes, Rattlesnakes, and some incredible night skies. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, but I'm like a pig in **** in that environment.
