I know Dan Harding is playing very well at the mo, but surely NA must give Fox a start sometime soon? We all know how touchy these footballers can get, and id hate to see one of the best left backs in the division alienated and lose motivation because he never gets a look in over (arguably) a weaker player, especially after being a first team regular at Burnley.

I know that at the moment its a case of dont fix what isnt broken, and i know that competition is a good thing, but I think in the near future it might be time to give Fox a chance to show us what he can do.

    Thoughts?

Do you think Fox has shown that he's better than Harding? Forget past and emotional ties - who has played better? And of course, who's training better?

Well i guess thats my point, Fox hasnt really been given a chance to show who can play better, as the only appearances hes made have been near the end of games.

It has only been three games. Fox will undoubtedly get his chance, especially once the fixtures start coming rapid-fire, and I doubt that he's too torn up at the moment.

From the open training pictures, he doesn't look like a footballer who isn't enjoying his football. He seems to be enjoying it a lot.....an awful lot....

You have to be better by a distance than the present incumbent in any position to get into our team. Every game is so important even at this stage of the season that Adkins won't want to take any chances. NA has said that keeping the players happy will be tough, especially after change to sub rule.

When Fox joined he knew he wouldn't be getting 40 guaranteed starts a season. Harding has started well and there's no reason to drop him yet. Nige has a big job keeping all those players happy but that is why he is paid the big bucks.

Im not sure about that. In the first interview he did he was going on about how he was going to contest with Lambert to take the set pieces. That suggests to me he thought he be a regular. And i remember a more recent interview he did where we just seemed a bit frustrated he wasnt starting but did claim to understand the reasons why

I'm sure Fox knew he wasn't going to walk straight into the team that was playing well and winning. He laughed when he made that remark about the set pieces..he knew that wasn't going to happen.

Fox is the new signing and will have to show commitment and professional qualities to usurp Harding. The latter will be training all the harder and trying to impress the manager that he deserves his first team place. Competition for places is a 'must' and we should be thankfull for that. Its a long, long season; there will be opportunities and I am sure that's the message Fox is getting. I do not believe that there are, or should be, any issues. If its the same at Christmas - you may have a point.

Of course he wasn't going to get straight into the team. It's very hard to muscle into a side that's playing well. Harding will have a dodgy game at some point and then Fox will be in for a little while himself. It's all good.

I'm sure he'll be on the bench, at least.

Connolly says he was fit for a long time but couldn't get a look in. Barnard injured himself and the rest is history. Now DC has the position and, even if fit, Barney will have to wait his time. Fox will be aware that his chance will come and he's got to be ready to grab it with both feet.

When he has come in he has played both left wing (to close out the game) and then at left back, let's not forget that he is a versatile player.

I know that we all evolved from a common ape-like ancestor, but........<laugh> If he manages to do that he should be playing in goal!

I doubt he really cares, he's getting a nice wedge each week and fiiiiine women. I'm guessing nearly every bloke on this forum would like that job.
