The latest squad news

Jordy de Wijs and Reece Burke have been out on the field today. They haven’t trained with the main group but they’re improving.

Jon Toral is back involved with the main group and he’ll continue to keep progressing.

Will De Wijs and Burke play?

We’ll see if they will train tomorrow.

Adkins on Ridgewell

I’ve been pleased with Liam. He’s a good man and he’s been exceptional on the training ground. The way he communicates with the younger players, I’ve been really pleased with him. We need that competition for places and after this press conference I’ll sit down and look if he’s fit.

Will Adkins change a winning team?

I have changed winning teams in the past and I will in the future.

Chris Martin won’t be available for selection. I have the fortunate situation where I have to make the decisions.

We’ve got a real togetherness about everyone and I’m pleased with that.

Evandro/Irvine conundrum continues

It’s a good problem to have. Certain players’ strengths might be suited to different opposition.

We have to act as a team and we all share the same common goal.

Any more signings on the agenda?

The opportunity to bring a free agent in is now closed. We’ll run with the guys we’ve got.

Reece Burke and Jordy de Wijs are very close to fitness.

Contract talks are coming but more pressing matters lie ahead

I’m sure we’ll talk to players about contracts.

We have two games coming up and all our focus is on that but we have a break after for ten days and I’m sure we’ll sit down and talk about the future.

I’m experienced enough to know how things work. I like to plan long-term and I’ll sit down with the owners and see where the progression is before the Brentford game

Adkins on long-term plans

You have to think long-term but I’m just thinking about the next two games and then we have an opportunity to plan more.

It was the same last year with budgets there was a chance we could have gone into League One but our energy is trying to keep it in the here and now and there is a good focus about everybody.

Adkins on the Allam interview with the BBC

I heard a snippet of the interview with Assem. I’m just concentrating on the game.

The owner has come out and done and interview with the BBC which is great.

The owners know what they want to achieve, there is a feel good factor and people are enjoying their football.

We want the best for the supporters. I’m chilled on my contract, it’s not an issue.

Was thinking of going down to Derby today but can't find my pliars, or wire cutters. Got my flask though.

It's a huge game, I was thinking about Evandro/Irvine and thought that Evandro might get the start if it's likely to be a more open game.

Back in Early December time , I made plans with the Mrs to get a babysitter and go out as we don't get out much these days . Looked at the calendar and chose this weekend thinking I aren't going to Derby to see us get stuffed and stay bottom of the league , now every time she mentions been tired or says she is a bit cold , I Jump straight in with , well we don't have to go out this weekend .... but apparently we do .

I hadn't realised they got Harry Wilson on loan, that's a real kick in the teeth that he went on loan to another rival club. On their official preview show they talk about how they benefited from him and Tomori getting used to this level last season with us.
