What were DC and Button doing on Red or Black?

Caught a quick glimpse of DC and JB pushing some thing forward to score points on Red or Black last night, when channel-hopping. No idea what it was about, but DC won (presumably because the dry conditions didn't allow Button to!)

Also, just seen a couple more Santander adverts with the McLaren boys in them. I thought they were supposed to be concentrating on the title battle? Are these bizarre TV appearances a significant distraction?

Going by what I've heard of the show they were probably giving a million pounds to a convicted sex offender.

As for the distraction thing I've no idea. If it's eating into any fitness/simulator work then it's obviously a hindrance. If they'd otherwise be sat at home playing FIFA I imagine they'd have no effect at all. Depends on the driver's schedule.

Button has been busy since Spa; Manchester demo, Berlin demo, and now this. It seems a bit much to cram into a two week gap.

Watched red or black on Saturday. What an awful awful show.

Jenson and Lewis are given way to many PR commitments, but it looks to me like he agreed to do this one on his own.

These two have more PR commitments than any other drivers in F1. They're flying left right and centre while their rivals are relaxing at some private beach somewhere. When they sign new deals with McLaren I'm pretty sure they have said they will want their PR commitments reduced.

I would assume in Spain Alonso does the TV ads for Santander, and he is also in the Fiat advert.

Speaking of demos' Mark Webber was in cardiff on saturday with an RB7, doing a street demo. My mother went, apparently it was cool, there was a lot of karting going on as well. I was at the gym, so i couldn't go.

To answer your last question, no.

I can't see doing a couple of TV adverts having a significant impact.

Yep, I do. Don't see what that has to do with it though...

How does doing a couple of adverts seriously affect them? Santander are a team sponsor and I suspect they might have something in their contract which states that they have to do these adverts. And I would also suspect that the team would make sure that these adverts do not affect their preparations for the races.

It's not so much "a couple of adverts" Chris, but the whole gambit of hectic scheduling with so much extra-curricular stuff; a plethora of non-racing P.R. related activities which go on all season long apart from a brief midsummer break (which is still intruded upon) and the longer winter break (which is still intruded upon). This is something that all F1 drivers have to do to some extent, particularly the high profile drivers with the top teams and the biggest sponsors who make constant demands upon their investment.

These things go largely hidden, so the general public tend to remain blissfully unaware; so please forgive my sarcasm; it was perhaps a little unfair.

This is a list of all the promo stuff Button has done since Spa:

    - Demo in Manchester.
    - Demo in Berlin.
    - Opens a restaurant in Harrogate.
    - Went on Red or Black tv show.
    - Hugo Boss filming in Milan.
    - Pirelli event in Milan.
    - Filming for FOM.

    That is pretty ridiculous.

    Nice one Mifune.

Just one example of one driver's schedule from less than one race ago! F1 drivers tend to do far more than footballers because they represent far more people.

I don't know maybe he would go on a nice trip to Manchester, followed by weekend break away in Berlin, eat at a nice restaurant, watch some tv, then go on a shopping trip in Milan, replace his tyres on his car. You know the usual.
