I won't bother listing all the major rock stars who admired and were influenced by Buddy Holly. But what do the likes of the Beatles know compared to City Man?

The middle aged man with a kiss curl Bill Haley. ARF!

Try reading the post again.

I saw that prog the other night where various rock legends were singing BH's praises

But still don't get it.

(BTW, Lennon married Yoko Ono, so what does he know?)

I don't get why anyone likes a lot of the stuff that you do, but each to their own. Let's see if people are still listening to it in 60 years.

Each and to their own, though of the many bands and artists that you and Canada post, lots I now get or can appreciate - Holly is the one I just don't get, it must have been 'you had to be there moment'?

Carry on posting # Vive la difference ;)

Remember that day as if it was yesterday. Still my favourite musician ever.

I have to agree with you. I could only afford to buy his records from Fanthorpes in the arcade, which were from a juke box, you had to have a centre piece to put in to be able to play them on your Dansette.

Buddy Holly was unique at the time because he was such a proliiic writer, he wrote or co-wrote most of his own hits. Great live performer and surprisingly versatile singer (don't be fooled by some of his saccharine sweet single releases but contrast his rocking versions of Ready Teddy and Blue Suede Shoes with solo efforts like Reminiscin' ) I was, of course, a member of the Buddy Holly Appreciation Society.
