I COULD win it..........but then again I COULD die a horrible death after impaling myself on six foot fence spikes while helping my elderly neighbour fix her roof.....

Airbus say they will move in the event of a no deal. Of course it will take a few years as you don’t just relocate high tech manufacturing overnight. They would just stop investing here and build up elsewhere in Europe. Of course what they are trying to do is influence the outcome - they don’t want to close down in the UK it will be hugely expensive to them, but in the event of a no deal it might, in the long term, be more expensive for them to stay. They might be bluffing, but it’s fine for Brexiters to play chicken with other people’s jobs, naturally.

This may be a threat, it may be a promise, but it certainly isn’t a game of chance.

Just read the BBC and Sky website and nowhere does he say that airbus WILL move if there is a no deal Brexit. He talks about airbus making ‘potentially very harmful decisions for the UK’ but I can’t find anywhere that he says airbus WILL move.
Of course I didn’t read the whole transcript of the interview ‘cos I’m not that bored, so I’m happy to be told I’m wrong and he did say that.

    Sorry to be pedantic

NB. Just watched the video and he doesn’t say they WILL be moving....but of course the word COULD is used

Yeah it’s a threat. Or a promise. We don’t know. It might not happen. They are saying this now to try and ensure it doesn’t have to, by putting more pressure on getting a deal. So, it’s up to people who won’t be directly affected to play chicken with other people’s jobs. Not just fat cat bankers jobs, but real workers’ jobs.

Global manufacturing is run on very fine margins. Delays or red tape in the delivery of components can really **** systems up and add exponential costs. If you close a line down because you are waiting for parts it’s very expensive. Personally I don’t this is an idle threat, but it certainly won’t happen on March 30. I could be entirely wrong, of course. I’m just a chameleon who thinks he’s better than everyone else. Apparently. Perhaps.

My point is G, that I’ve seen so many times in the MSM of things being quoted as COULD happen.....and then people on here and elsewhere jump on it as saying it WILL happen......I know it’s just words but being the pedant that I am, I think it’s important that the normal man or woman on the street differentiate the two.

Yeah, it’s odds mate. But you make decisions in your own life based on your assessment of the odds about x or y happening. It’s not linguistics, the difference between will and could.

It doesn't mate and it won't. Whoever said it was is incorrect. He just said it was easy to move and they could.
However I wouldn't listen to threats by Pro EU sheep being controlled by someone in our government. It really is unhelpful when he says crap like this because some of the poor sods that work there will feel crap about this. There was no need to say anything.

Government cannot run their policy based on threats of job losses or anything else. No one sane wants a no deal, but government has to consider all arguments when formulating negotiating strategy. Preventing possible job losses is one of them.

SKY NEWS: EU Chief negotiator Michel Barnier says they are willing to renegotiate if UK loses some of its red lines.
And I thought they wouldn't renegotiate?

When a negotiating party says "this is our first and final offer" with 2 months to the end date, you know they're lying

Not funny, just correct in what I posted earlier. Funnily now many are coming out saying how irresponsible his comments were. If you want to cover your ears, then so be it. However for me, I like to listen, think, understand.
