Club never wanted Dyche. Rudkin wanted Wagner. No one elses. He got Huddersfield up so wanted to stay. In the end it was a case of might aswell give it Shakey then It was a complete **** up. Shakey is a very good coach. Not a manager though
Yes Puel got everyone off his back. Dont be so naive to think it gives him a free hit for months and years. Football isnt like that He shouldnt be using Vichai at all the try and take pressure off himself
He doesn’t even mention the fans. Clearly any opportunity to have a go at him though. You completely miss the point about supporters like yourself putting Top in this position. I’m bored of repeating myself over and over that even if Puel was deserving of the sack (which Top being a sensible guy clearly agrees is not true) he wouldn’t anyway due to everything that has happened. Do you not think he’s got more important things to worry about in his personal and family life as well as other business interests?
Top was about to sack him before the Chelsea game. He will have no choice but to soon Puel is sucking the life out the team and fans. The atmosphere is shocking now. Its pretty much toxic. He makes the same mistakes every week and people have had enough. While I pay my money along with everyone else we will voice our views. The majority have turned on Puel now Sacking a manager wont be that much a hardship to him.
You really are good at stating your opinions as fact... If I say Top had no intention of sacking him before the Chelsea game does that make that true? Where’s this majority have turned? More like Puel outers shout louder. The club has been through the most traumatic incident in history only weeks ago, sit in a health position in the league whilst going through a rebuild from the mess previous regimes left. I find it quite frankly disgusting that people put their personal feelings about Puel (a guy who I bet none have ever met) over all this. It’s the section of fans that are being toxic and are a cancer in this club. The title win ruined many of you
We were definitely close to signing Dyche but whatever - cba to argue about 2 years ago. If your beef with Rudkin was that he wanted a promising manager who was doing well with an unfancied team when we were up the creek without a paddle then so be it.
I’m yet to hear a genuine improvement yet realistic name mentioned by the Puel haters. The likes are Dyche and Wagner are negative managers and likely not an improvement and people who think people like Howe would come are seriously deluded
Anyone is a genuine improvement As ive said Eddie Howe would be my choice But its not for fans to recommend managers or we stick with what we have Few if any of Southamptons fans had heard of Hassenhutl a few weeks back
No one has ever approached Burnley for Dyche. Not us not no one. He has always been linked with jobs as he is doing brilliant at Burnley he hasnt even come close to leaving there We wanted Wagner. No one else thats why we stuck with Shakey
Wow just wow. You think you could pluck some ransomed from the 10th tier of football and they’d be an improvement? It’s statements like this that don’t give you credibility. Keep banging on about Howe but the minute we approach him he’ll laugh it off as a kindly amusing joke. You say it’s not for fans to comment but if you’re going to do nothing but slag the manager off since his appointment and in turn question the clubs choice, Id say you should have views on what next (realistic ones)
Have you asked Howe? Puel nearly got lynched by the Lyon fans. Southampton fans nearly died of boredom and were well on our way. Puel has a track record of turning everyone against him He is doing it here like he did everywhere else he has been And yes there is many much better managers out there then Puel. With or without clubs
I haven’t asked Howe no. I’m assuming Top told you personally that he planned to sack Puel? Maybe we should give Filbert the gig as anyone would be better. Tbh the only thing I find boring is the endless debate and negatively of our fans. I’ve already said I’d review at the end of the season but due to many factors it’d be a bad idea to do it now but you seem desperate for everyone to agree with your way of thinking. Funny that as far as this forum is concerned, the majority of fans is just you?
Yes lets all put the blinkers on and pretend everything is sunshine and rainbows Peter Taylor was allowed the carry on until the end of the season when things was clearly wrong. Once the rot has set its hard to shift We need to act to it not react As for the forum? All 10 of us? We have a bigger fanbase then this forum and the majority want him go. But you kid yourself if you think things are going well
When have I said sunshine and rainbows or that things are going ‘well’? I believe I’ve said it’s not a crisis. You on the other hand talk as though the end of the world is imminent! Anyway whatever, keep hoping because until the season is finished you’ll be disappointed. For the record, if the second half of the season doesn’t drastically improve I’ll agree he needs to go but the clubs reputation won’t go down the pan as it would now
Why would the clubs reputation go down the pan by sacking Puel? Clubs sack managers. Sometimes the media make a big deal of it but next week its forgotten If Man U can sack Jose Mourinho then im sure Leicester can sack Claude Puel for the same reasons
Have you forgotten the reputation our owners got when Ranieri was sacked? There was mumblings along the lines of they’re at it again when Shakespeare went as well. If Puel went now, the media would be back at it about sacking him when we’re 8th and after everything etc. The media look for a story anywhere if you hadn’t noticed. You might be happy to change manager every season but the club clearly want stability
We won the next 6 games afterwards and everyone shut up Ranieri won the Premier League with us Claude Puel cant even beat Newport Bit of a difference
And on your last point. Im my life ive always been one to back our manager. Only managers ive ever called to be sacked are Craig Levein, Paulo Sousa and Claude Puel All managers that took us backwards. We played turgid football and they deserved the sack I didnt want Pearson 1st time around or Ranieri or Puel But I got behind them once they was appointed. 2 of them worked wonders for us. The other makes the same mistakes week after week. There is only so long you can get behind him I guarantee he wont ever change. He will continue to make the same mistakes and bore us to death as long as he stays in charge
