Another week draws to a close and a weekend beckons, for some it’s a trip to Stoke, for others Saturday in the pub, for me its Sky at home.

When we settle down to watch the game, some of our numbers will be in far off places and strange time zones.

We have our USA contingent, what time will they settle down to watch the lads? Will it be on TV or some dodgy internet feed?

Our Europeans from Amsterdam to Germany and Portugal to Italy.

We then meet our more exotic crew, Bangkok to Kualaumpa.

Then on to the Australia set with their sun and surf.

One thing is for sure, at kick off time we will join as one to cheer those boys in oxblood & cream.

I was exactly the same syd, looked smart as a dart.

Good from far, far from good, as they say.

I loved the all white nike away, and the blue hummel.

Those 2 will never be beaten.

Speaking of the North American contingent, I just found out the N. American SAFC Supporters Club was started by Ted Purden, the South African international Sunderland centre forward who played alongside Shackleton, Bingham & co. He died in 2007 just a couple of hours after watching a SAFC game on t.v. He was the club's honorary president till the day he died. Google Ted Purden if you like.

I remember Ted Purden from those days in the late fifties and had no idea he had died. RIP. Good on him for founding the Supporters Club.
I remeber a game against the Busby Babesat Roker when they got a highly disputed goal and from the kick off Shack, who was incensed, dribbled passed one player after another and laid the ball on a plate for Ted Purdon. He missed the ball completely with a wild swing. Fortunately his second effort went in. We lost 2-1.

4:30 AM here in the PST for Stoke game. Carried live on tv, bu I'll be in Reno NV. Recording the game so I can watch alone in peace when I return. Chelsea game was viewed at my best mates house (three doors down), he grew up in London, rabid Chelsea supporter. We sat in his office with two internet feeds (one in Spanish) on laptops and drank wine and screamed and yelled. Wouldn't have had it any other way. Except of course live and in person.
