Aye the Everton fans, who voted him player of the year at a landslide, before the World Cup, and watch him every week like we did, think he’s **** as well.

He’s had a bit of a rough run, all players do, keepers are highlighted. He’s still England’s best keeper by a mile and one of the very best around.

I have no idea how much football you watch, but you need to watch games rather than highlights. Then you’ll see why he’s been fans and players player of the year, 2 years in a row, at 2 different clubs.

We are biased as he’s one of ours, but Everton fans aren’t, nor are the worldwide fans who voted for him after World Cup.

I thought that this was a slightly 'tongue in cheek' question to stimulate conversation at first, but now you're just sounding like a tit looking for an argument that you obviously can't win <doh>

Perhaps he’s been on the sauce a little too much over the festive period!

I assumed from the first point that the negative side of swapping would be the damage it could do to the current encumbent to be ditched for a game when he isn't doing anything wrong. There's a legitimate argument in that - though being ditched for the current England number one who is a local lad is hardly going to be something you take personally. I didn't think it was a question of who is the better keeper.

Some of my favourite newcastle players in the last decade are people who came in and did a job for us when we went down - Marlon Harewood, Leon Best, Lovenkranz, Fitz Hall, James Perch, etc. I wouldn't swap any of our current players for them though, and our current team is terrible!!
