Me neither, but they are supposed to be good. Better than the films, and the films are good.

Don’t bother. I read lord of the rings and it’s some ****ing long boring trudgedest of a book. It goes on endlessly about battles and battles that led to battes and the families that were involved in he battes and how they came to power and who their ancestors were.

I’d you’re some kind of Dungeons and Dragons nerd who likes all this **** about what sort of sabre Gandalf used and how it was made by the elders of some ancient race, then it might be up your street. Otherwise swerve it and spend the month it would take to read it doing something in the real world instead.

Just watch the films...they are quite epic.

Worse than that every time the heroes enter a new field from a previous field he starts describing every blade of grass, the temperature, every animal etc etc

Read the books at school and decided to re read them before the films came out.

In general, still a good read but some of the chapters. **** sake, I thought I was going to die before I reached the end of them.

The House of Tom Bombadill and something about Barrow Wights spring to mind. Tedious.

I sped read the last one, couldn't be arsed.

I will never read Harry Potter, given that I'm not ten years old and that.

I read the hobbit when I was around 12 and loved that. It’s a great read and not too long either. But lord of the rings, ****’s sake.

Never had one shred of interest in anything Harry Potter related. As you say, might be of interest if you’re into teeny pop bands (like @Bodinki)

We did the Hobbit in first year English lit. Great book.

Like spurlock, i'll stick to the films.

You watched any of them?

The first is a genuinely great film (No Tom ****ing Bombadill for a start). A brilliant film.

Second is good too, more battles and such ****.

The third was rated as best, won best picture I think, but in reality it is by far the worst of the three.

Still decent enough though.
