What i find interesting in all this is that before the technology came in, i read an article about the number of mistakes by referees in top games. When the incidents were reviewed months on, it was found that it was a very small number that were actually wrong.
So we move on....Var has made far more errors through human interpretation than the ref ever did alone. Add to that strikers are now playing the technology and the percentage of advantage in unscrupulous conditions has quadrupled!
Var made the World Cup interesting but for all the wrong reasons and its great as a tv spectacle but as a supporter at the game, no thank you, id rather lose through cheating than put up with this debacle.
brb - apologies for the delayed response ( but I got up especially early today to give you my full attention ).
...... before I 'begin' - I just want to say that I can understand your apathy - ( but - as you know - I tend to let
cheating boil my blood ! )
I have watched a number of games on SKY & BT in the last couple of weeks - where there has been a lot of cheating or appalling decisions ( and lack of ), by the officials - and goals have been scored which should not have counted - and which have greatly affected the results. A West Brom player was interviewed immediately following a game last week. He 'scored' a last minute equaliser - by pushing the ball over the goal line with his arm. He readily admitted his action - and had absolutely no remorse.... "
You are a cheat." is what I would have told him.
I have re-read the last two lines of your post - and they dishearten me. We should not have to accept
any form of cheating in our society. I won't get into a political homily about fairness and justice -
You know where I stand on this issue - but - I am disappointed that
you can accept cheating in football. Would you so readily accept being cheated in anything else ? Would you so readily accept being 'short-changed' when we hand over payment in a shop ? Surely you would tell a shopkeeper that you gave a £20 note - when he gives you change for a tenner. Would you accept only half a job done by a tradesperson ? -
NO - you would look at the bill and think that the robbing basturd has screwed you !
THAT is a normal reaction - and what would also be normal is for anyone to
question the matter.................... now I realise that
you (
and other Gills fans ) are not normal - but I believe that you can understand the point I'm making................................ and before you defend your position ---
.............. may I remind you that while you watch, and accept your team losing because of
cheating by the opposition and officials, do not forget that
you have
paid good money to be screwed.
VAR is never going to be perfect - but - neither is British Justice. VAR is going to help to get things right more often. It will help to provide evidence that would be missed if the technology didn't exist -- a bit like DNA forensic evidence. VAR is going to help to stop the cheating - or at least, it should help to punish the cheats and stop
you getting screwed............
Cheating is not acceptable in
any aspect of society - and that includes football.
