Those BMW 3 and 5 series cars are so well poised. From day one they built those cars on a sporty platform with really good quality chassis, suspension and powertrain. Classic BMW rear wheel drive added into the mix and you've got a really agile car.

I loved my old 320d Touring. I had it remapped up to around 220bhp. It was like **** off a shovel.

You had it remapped, you’ve never mentioned that before mate.

Yeah, remap.

Most engines have extra power and torque available, but the manufactures limit them to certain spec in order to sell different badges. I.e. so they can sell the top end spec'd cars at a premium.

Several companies have produced software that you can load into the ECU that increases the power, BHP and torque to improve performance.

I had my 330d done by Emaps. If the guy is still around he’s top notch - especially on Beemers.

Them Delta S4 Stradales could be tuned to over 600hp from about 280hp effortlessly, they just had to be limited to a sensible amount of power when unleashed on the public.

The Grp B Rally one easy went over 1000hp as well, apparently you could put a Veyron on asphalt and a Group B S4 on gravel and the S4 would mince the Veyron over 1/4 mile.

Those group B rally cars were mental.

Was looking at an Audi A6 RS on ebay the other day (just looking, not to buy) was spec'd up to 803bhp !

You mean an RS6? They things are ****ing mind bending. An estate car that eats Ferrari’s.

Yeah RS6. Was an older one, but a minter. 803bhp from a standard looking estate car. Mental.

Yeah the standard ones have more than enough power. Still wouldn’t want one mind, I don’t like Audi’s apart from the RS7 and Quattro S1.
