Let’s be honest, in this Brexit debate there have been more than a few experts, on both sides, that have got it wrong therefore it’s very hard for most to trust any of them.

I see your list and that doesn’t tell me that many major companies are leaving. As I said they are adapting to the situation. Can you imagine setting up shop in Paris after last weekend? They strike every other week. I tell you what I will have a pint with you that if we have a no deal Brexit that 2 years after things will roughly be the same. A deal will be struck and all this is just hot air from all.

Happy to wager that pint <cheers>

My hunch is we won't end up with no deal so neither of us will owe the other a pint anyway!!

All the facts to date and all the half credible forecasts, point only to economic negatives from any kind of Brexit including even remaining in the single market "Norway option". Yesterday the Governments Own forecast and the Bank of England independently I understand, forecast about the same very clearly. If the general message which is all a long term financial forecast can ever give, is not believed there must be some very long necks in very deep sh*he.

It's so easy. Adopt your position in the bunker and condemn everything wherever it comes from as Operation Fear. There's no arguing with minds that are closed to any reasoned debate. Operation Fear and ridicule by soundbite. Perfect. We can then all sleep walk to Utopia and blame saboteurs and traitors when we get there and find it may not quite be Utopia as we believed it to be but rather Hell. Ask any questions and they are conveniently ignored because it challenges their innate belief that they are right and persecuted.

Dismantle one argument and you find that they pretend to speak for all other Brexiteers as to what people voted for. Apparently none of them wanted it for economic benefits. None of them wanted it because deep down they might not like others. Wallow in self-pity and outrage when anyone suggests that there is any racism at all. Its patriotism and pride in one's own country.

Everything would be perfect if we could elect someone who spoke up for their vision and simply stand their ground until all opposition in Europe crumbled. However why has that not happened? That is so easy to see:

    1. There is no shared vision. The independent Britain that the Hard Left wants is completely different to that which the so called ERG wants.
2 The vision that JRM has is different to the one that the Tory Brexiteer standing next to him has.
3 The leaders of the ERG and others who share that odious little Englander /splendid isolationist point of view realise that. That is why they don't stand for election.
    4. They also know deep down that unless the UK wants to be seen as a rogue pariah state which does not pay its debts their hands are tied by the obligations of leaving which were signed up to Acknowledge that, bow to the inevitable and accept the terms on offer (a compromise not a surrender) and you are branded as weak or even a traitor.
5 How ironic that after all the cobblers that was spouted forth at the time that it's a decision for the PM, the Cabinet, the Government the Executive when and how to trigger A50 hey are now reliant on Parliament to bail them out by voting out the deal that TM has reached.
6 The EU is not as weak or indecisive or dependent on us as we have been led to believe. They've managed easily to defend themselves in the negotiations and unlike us have not lurched from one ultimatum and gamble to another. What nobody knows is whether they have plans B and C in place but I doubt we have.

She is right and I believe the vote in Parliament will be a lot closer. The reality is there is no other credible option on the horizon never mind the table. there never was. So the choice for most people is clear.

Put an end to it and get out sooner on the terms offered and agreed or spend another 3 years in this mess going nowhere fast and ranting at every one else to divert attention away from your own responsibility for the mess we're in. Those who choose to take up their time between matches on this forum do not speak for the silent majority. They will do what they can when they can to look after themselves. For those not inclined to direct action or lawlessness that will come in the next election when they will punish the ****wits and visionaries who have led us by the nose to where we are today.

There is a credible option, it's the stay in one 48% voted for, and if opinion polls are right more will now. I doubt if any single one of the Brexit alternatives suggested would alone get close.

Economic forecasts are just that I agree with Col on this and used so often to influence

However I do agree with the £100bn cost of Brexit
In fact I believe it could a much larger figure

Just money and easy maybe to say it’s worth it etc

£100bn is a big hole to fill of course and what Brexiteers do not and never have is to offer a plan for a economy that can absorb such a figure and recover ... I can never see that sorry

In a country that falls apart when Chicken, water and leaves on the railway lines or even if the temperatures rise to 30 again I don’t see it

It’s a house of cards imo and just one small shortage of any product will cause chaos

In the south east if you mistimed any journey or there are small road works then you can write off a day

Again to clarify 100% that exit strategies of major companies based especially in London have made ready and I have witnessed this as said before they are waiting and the mood within some of the financial companies I touch is full of the same doubt ... I can also say that our pharma divisions from what I have picked up is a lot more intense regarding final location

My employer moved into this Brexit thing with gusto and has cleaned up

My point is that big business always finds a way well before any government to make money in whatever means they can

I fear for the small businesses as most have no capacity to take the lightest of hits and most businesses use a fragile model anyhow borrowing is a big part of that as we know and the forecasts do look bleak on that front as the products available from the banks will always reflect the economic climate ... we are currently down to the bone all of us both personally and in business and so I do base my project fear on the bastards who control it all

The feeling I get around my area is that people are bored and fed up of it all now. As for forecasts, they can't even get the weather right never mind much else. One thing we have all learned ( if we didn't already know) is that the people we elect to govern us can't and shouldn't be trusted.

I actually think I'm beyond giving a **** about it all. It's wasted energy. What will be will be and one thing for sure, we don't have a say in how it goes as proven by the referendum, we just leave it to a bunch of liars and bullshitters. What an absolute waste of time and resources.

economic forecasts imo are usually warnings and this is one big warning that shouldn’t be dismissed

We are talking about our people

Not responsible at all to say F Off to them all we are British and the world needs us . We are not the shopkeepers we are the shop and in that shop we have never had it as good ... we are used to it and the impact of that will crush us if everything goes the wrong way

That’s why I cannot understand or like the Brexiteer
Sovereignty and a 25 year plus rebuild at what price? ... my guess it will be big and I am thankful I have a out for my next generations

Impossible to answer at least until we know what sort of Brexit there will be, if it happens at all. But just the vote result and the aftermath is negative.
