Note you started this thread in November the 15th.

You must have been feeling particularly festive last year.

I think two years ago we might have been in the middle of austerity and depression and needed cheering up a bit.

That's why I broke the last week rule I reckon. Couldn't wait to talk about cheese and wine and beer.

At my folks again. Which means a disappointing Christmas dinner with rubbish gravy.

Every year I offer to do the roast potatoes, parsnips and gravy. Every year I get told off by my dad for offering to do it as he knows the reason I offer is mine are better. I then also get threatened not to turn up pissed already.

What cheese you thinking this year?

You need to be more specific dude.

I can’t remember what cheese we had last year.

Usually get a good smelly Brie. Camembert normally bake that one.

Seen a thing online about making a cheese tower inside a round loaf of bread. Looks amazing then dunk tubes of bread into it.

A family 'carvery' at my sisters, there will be a turkey, a side of pork and about 10-15 trimmings and between 4 and 8 puddings. I will eat too much and end up lying on the floor panting for a couple of hours so I can breathe.

Wishing I'd bought one of those hams in Spain now. Every year we go to the same supermercado in Santander and every year I don't ****ing buy one.
    They look superb too.

Cheese will be the usual stilton, cheddar, camembert and then one with cranberries in it.

Especially when you drive there. Better off going to a proper butcher. Get one that’s been fed on chestnuts. Going to try the Lidl one this year. I think the Lidl one is at least Spanish. The Aldi one isn’t from Spain.

You gotta have variety of textures to suit everyone. 3 minimums for me.

Brie's a must-be. You also need a really good blue. I love Danish Blue but Roquefort's the bollocks as well. The last must have is a smoked cheese, don't mind if its a hard cheese or soft spreadable.

After that anything goes for me but they've gotta be strong flavoured!

Try and get hold of blacksticks blue. You won’t regret it.

I go to a farm shop at a local garden centre. Had some stinking Bishop the other year.

The ones in Carrefour in Santander would be hard to beat by any butcher. It's a butcher within a supermarket.

    Didn't I WhatsApp pics?

Easily the best cheese. Company that produce it also do an oxford blue. Tremendous as well.

You need a detour on ya way home one week via Gloucester services. It’s worth it. You could get yourself a joint of Gloucester old spot pork too.
