I've been told a few bits and pieces. I understand that Jamie Lawrence was a former Bradford team-mate of Deano's at Bradford and a friend of King's. King was apparently upset at Dean for something that had something to do with Lawrence and it came out that night. I don't know if it was a racial issue. I don't think that Deano's racist for one minute, but maybe just a bit insensitive at times and that gets at a few players.
Bullard signed just before the infamous Millwall FA Cup game, which was back end of January 2009, therefore he couldn't have been on the pitch at Man City to take the dressing down. Yes Bullard did take the mick, the season after...1-1 draw...We took 4 pts of Citeh that season. Today, we wouldn't get a kick of the ball.
Notts County post Harry Kewell done 3-0 at home to Cheltenham... I've decided to withdraw my application for the job.
I am a huge Brownie fan, so I am slightly biased. He did a great job at Southend for a number of years, the year before he left he was linked with a few Championship jobs and Southend where worried they wouldn't be able to keep hold of him. It shows how quickly times change and people fall out of favour.
When is Richard's book coming out and where can I buy it? And on Brownie. I love that guy. He's one of those characters who was around in the 70s and divides opinion. Get him back!! On my deathbed I'd rather have said I loved the 10 years when Brownie came back and lit up our tenure in the Championship / League one or two as opposed to a boring stint in the Prem with some faceless nobody. I want the fun back in football. Come back, Phil, is what I say! Legend! Anyway, Richard's book info please? Edit: just re-read Richards post. March time. Sorry for not paying attention ha
He was mediocre at Southend after being poor at Preston and getting sacked - ok he had his hands tied with signings. He was loveable until he actually believed he was England material together with the question of sport and sky sports pink cardy sunglasses on head rubbish. I heard he once walked up to a local bar and asked -which ladies wanted to "spend some time with" a premier league manager. Playing Geo in front of the back 4 and ***an up front as the lone striker proved he was clueless. On CI TOP's statistics of Brownies results in the prem while Big Sam was unemployed contrasted dramatically with those once he got a job.
He won them promotion and got them very close to the play offs twice on a budget probably in the bottom six in that division. He was linked with three Championship jobs, I think mediocre at Southend is very harsh, the fans loved him there. He did excellent until his final season. They made progress every year. Not going to disagree with the other stuff, but I love the bloke he got us into the Premier League the first time in our history and I will be forever grateful.
So hang on... "You heard" he went to some Ladies in a bar and asked which Ladies wanted to spend some time with a Premier League manager... and you believe that?
Deano spotted King chatting up and touching up two girls. Deano stepped in, King took off his 20k watch and handed it to another City, headbutts at dawn, broken up by Ashbee. The End.
At the Casino... Deano pulled out a £20, slapped it on Marlons forehead, saying "Twenny on the black".
Yes, at the time it was common knowledge amongst the lads I hung around with. Im gobsmacked it isnt common knowledge?
I agree with that and I can never understand why some have to rubbish the first ex Hull City manager to get us promoted to the Premier League because of the colour of his shoes or his cardigan. Terry Neil would have worn a mini skirt and crutch less knickers if it meant he could have got his 70/71 team over the line and in to Division one. He tried every thing else, including getting Jimmy Saville down for a photo shoot at the club to improve our image. Didn't hear many complaining in those days.
