Can't name a single GK who made a decent manager, or can i. Yes i can, it's Nigel, although he's finding it tough at the moment.

Hands off the Cowleys. Far too high a win % for Southampton. 56%

So who, of our former managers, would we have back then?

I’d be up for the return of Ron Koeman myself. He’d have enough swagger to brush off the inevitable mumbling from his detractors, so no worries on that score either.

Won’t happen, obviously. Wish he’d never left though.

Think he'd struggle with this squad tbh but would certainly have him back, probably our best manager in a generation.

He’d sort the defence out I reckon, and then get the ball played quickly into our opponents box for Ings or Gabbi to take advantage. He even had Shane Long scoring regularly.

We need someone to galvanise this squad and get a tune out of them. It’s just not happening under present management, we’re getting worse not better. I had more faith in Pellegrino to turn it round than I do Hughes tbh.

We are short on quality compared to what we’ve had, but we’re not devoid of it

Anyone who thinks Koeman is better than Poch really does need to wobble their head a bit!

I don’t even think Koeman is much good tbh.

I don't get this "he'd leave if he was any good" attitude. That is who we are, to find players/managers who will be just the exact level for what we need is almost impossible, they will either be good or bad. If they leave after a season or 2 for bigger things then great, means they will have done a great job whilst they were here.

Didn't say he was as he quite obviously isn't. I'd say Ron is a decent manager, nothing more and nothing less.

The point is that Ron did a better job here, which is indisputable surely?

“Our best manager in a generation”? No.

Highest league position perhaps, but MASSIVELY helped by what came before.

Agreed. Koeman has had the best Southampton squad to work with in a long time. Mane, VVD/Alderweireld, Wanyama, Tadic, Pelle etc. The spine of that team was superb. I would have loved to have seen what Pochettino would have done with that side.

With you on that, but weren't VVD, Tadic & Pelle bought on advise from Koeman?

Didn't Poch benefit from what came before too? <confused>

Ron delivered back to back European qualification (unheard of for us) and our highest league finish in 30 years, all while the best players were sold in both Summers.

Again, I'm not saying that he's a better manager, but he clearly did a better job here as the facts show.

Ron isn't allowed credit. He eats babies while Pochettino feeds millions of homeless.

Disagree he was helped by what went before - his team was completely different to that of what went before.
