Just watched the highlights.........some decent play & positive spells of possession.......But, thank **** for Marshall in goal !!

He was in the year above me at school and Captain of the school football team, wondered what happened to him.

I aren't one for subscribing to the 'Typical City' self-pitying mantra, but despite winning the goal of the month, it dint make it into the goal of the season, and no trace of the goal exists as the tape was wiped!
Remember it well. I actually wrote to Jimmy Hill at the time and complained. He replied too but I don't remember him saying he had overruled it and put another goal forward. I'm sure he said there had been a technical fault or something. It was very much 'Typical City'. Like the Full Members Cup Final, we reach it and it's played at Boothferry Park v Bournemouth ( Harry Rednapps first trophy as a manager, he'll probably mention it in the 'Im a celebrity get me out here') the greedy bastard.
Then every other final is played at Wembley.
I was gutted at the time when Hemmerman's goal disappeared and I bet he was too.
Was at Molineaux Park that day. We beat Wolves easily in October here but they were a different team at their place. Never seen a stand as big as their South Bank.
That article said what I thought from memory and that another goal from that Wolves game went forward to the goal of the season competition while the Hemmerman goal was discarded . Did not realise that all the other monthly winners went to the goal of the season apart from our goal . Of course City have always been **** on , we've had 114 years of it .
