Fair points Royston.

The lack of cover for Lewis Page is inexplicable.

If Aston Villa decides who plays in goal for Charlton that is a disgrace. Even if this sort of thing is just the way things are done these days, it should be out in the open and not a shameful secret.

As far as I'm concerned we only have one key loan player. Josh Cullen aside the other three are nothing special, yet injuries have made all four of them first choices for our starting XI. But I thought we had Cullen for the whole season. Are West Ham going to recall him after Christmas?

According to Bowyer last week, it’s quite possible. Ward definitely, Cullen possibly.

For me the three best improvements this season in our squad have been
  • Lyle Taylor ... capable of scoring 25+ goals this season, and not injury prone! A really good player.
  • Josh Cullen ... a major coup to get him in.
  • Karlan Grant ... I know he still has his critics but he has scored 7 goals from just 14 starts.
Other players are doing a solid job for the team;
  • Jason Pearce
  • Chris Solly
Some have been good at times but have suffered patchy form;
  • Joe Aribo
  • Anfernee Dijksteel
  • Tarique Fosu ... fair play to him he has been injured. But is not on form right now.
But too many have been disappinting in my view;
  • Jed Steer ... not useless but no better than Dillon Phillips, and not as good as Ben Amos.
  • Krystian Bielik ... A talented lad but is never fit for long. Has lost form now as well.
  • Darren Pratley ... was a quality player, but not anymore.
  • Naby Sarr ... supposed to be quality at Championship level? Yet can't justify a starting place in the 3rd tier.
  • Ben Reeves ... Occasionally good, too often ineffective, cannot play for more than 60 minutes.
  • Jamie Ward ... Like Pratley was a decent player in his time. Over the hill now though. Like Reeves cannot play a whole game.
  • Igor Vetokele ... Barely ever fit, good only for Checkatrade kickabouts. Massive disappointment.
  • Nicky Ajose ... Waste of time.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
We won't be getting promotion this season with just three outstanding players, a handful of solid ones and too many who are just not good enough.
If Bauer, Page, Clarke and Forster-Caskey were all first team regulars we would have a shout. But they aren't.

You have missed out Joe Aribo mate <ok>

Forest do not want Ward back so perhaps Ward said in August.. I will join you now to prove my match fitness but would like a full time contact in January if you want to keep me.... The Belgian will not sign a 30+ year old on an 18 month contract while he is trying to sell the club.

Nail on the head there.

Can’t blame Ward - he is 32/33 and wants a final 18 month plus contract in January. Given our owner, he won’t be getting it from us !

My view of the regulars (I’ve left out the kids & crocks)

Done well so far this term-

Taylor
Aribo
Cullen
Lapslie
Ward
Bielik

Reasonable, but ‘could do better’ -

Solly
Pearce
Reeves
Grant (awful all round game)

Rubbish / Get Rid / Very poor -

Vetekole
Ajose
Sarr
Steer
Fosu (sadly)
Pratley

I know it is only November (I do not count Halloween as it's a p0xy American day that does not deserve a place in the UK calendar) but I think our chances of promotion this season are over... if we can in January... return all the loan players and play our own kids and any good youngsters (Prem League normally do a clear out of youngsters in Jan.) to prepare for next season in L1 or perhaps L2.

But fans on another forum are saying 6th place this season and a day out at Wembley would be an achievement <laugh>

A bitter pill to swallow, but with no prospect of a take-over and fifteen players out of contract next May this may well be our future.

Lee Bowyer is trying so hard to do the right thing but he is being made a fool of by Duchatelet.
If RD is still Charlton owner by August 2019, relegation will be the most likely scenario.

Agreed. Roland's actions indicate that he is not serious about selling any of his clubs, including Charlton, and no-one is serious about buying under his unrealistic terms. L2 seems unthinkable, as we've never been there before, but we've not had Roland as owner before. Survival in L1 must be our ambition.
