Chronicle + Super Timmy Krul said:TIM KRUL has delivered a shop-floor view of Newcastle Unitedâs intentions for the season ahead by insisting: âThis is our chance to establish ourselves.â
United fans have questioned why there has been a lack of proven Premier League quality signed this season. But Krul feels the current squad have no choice but to battle on for the black-and-white cause and get on with the job.
The Dutch keeper has contested former midfielder Joey Bartonâs theory that he and Cheick Tiote will be sold in the next window, and indicated he wanted to stay at Newcastle âfor a long timeâ.
United face Barton and Queens Park Rangers a week on Monday looking to resume their excellent start to the Premier League campaign.
However, speaking on the prospect of Newcastleâs young guns growing up together at St Jamesâ Park, Krul told the Chronicle: âThis is the way the club wants to go now.
âAt the moment this team is showing we can move forward.
âThat has to be the most important thing. We have a lot of young players here and a lot of young talent, we could be here for a long time.â
The transfer window resulted in exits for Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique which â like Andy Carrollâs departure in January â lay uncomfortably with United supporters.
Speaking on his own future, Krul said: âI am 23 and I want to stay here for a long time.
âThe manager keeps saying we have to perform week in, week out. That is the only thing I can do and that we can do as players.â
Krul has been outstanding in the opening four matches of the season and produced man-of-the- match displays against Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup and Fulham in the Premier League.
The Hague-born stopper says he has no problem with hard work after producing some world-class saves.
He added: âI am happy with the amount of work I have to do â it was more like a training session at Scunthorpe with the amount I stood up to! It was great.â Krul is ready for his next challenge of facing Barton and co, with the Scouser determined to notch against his old club at Loftus Road on what will be his home debut.
He said: âTouch wood, he did not score too often!
âThe next game is Queens Park Rangers, another game in which we can pick up points. We know what Joey is capable of but this is a game we can pick up points in.â

Some nice little quotes from Krul about his faith in the young lads and how he wants to stay for a long long time. I know we've heard it all before, with Barton, Carroll, Nolan etc etc but glad to see, at the minute, that Krul's heart is still in it and his intention is very much to stick with us!
Love the guy. I hope he's our keeper for years and years to come, I really do. He's brilliant and I can see him just getting better and better.
Also like the "he did not score too often" comment about Barton
