I think most of us would take a 77 mate <applause> When pro golfers miss a three footer then I realise it can be hard.
I started playing 19 years ago. At the time I started work at 9.00. It got me hooked so much I used to get up at five in the morning in summer and do 18 holes before work.

Great game but frustrating as f...

Absolutely. The more consistent you can be the better. It's frustrating when you connect badly, or use the wrong club and under hit and leave yourself short of the green. That's what I'm trying to work on, to not give cheap shots away. Every shot counts.

Aye I play a fair bit. Jimi on here is golf coach or at least was I think?

I got my handicap under 10 as a youngun. I took it back up when I was about 30 and whittled it back down to the low teens. I was playing 3 times a week though and popping to the range. So it came down in a very short space of time. Its one of those things where there is no substitute for playing time. I'd love to play a lot more but just can't find the time.

I have played a bit of late and gone ok. Played Whickham which I found tough, high premium on driving and knowing the course. If I played again I'd take more 3 woods and irons off the tee. I hit a long ball, but the problem with that is if you get off line the punishment tends to be more severe!! I play Bedlington and Rothbury most of the time although Bedlington is getting ridiculous with numbers on course. Easily one of the better local courses but its a long round at present. I played Bellingham the other week and that was pretty good. Some really nice par 3's, though that may be because I played them really well and won prizes <laugh>

Played any number of courses and only a few I didn't like. Longhirst wasn't for me but that was some time ago. Alnwick I didn't rate at all. I've always like Linden Hall when its not saturated. I think the best shot I ever hit was at Percy Wood. A monster 3 wood off the fairway to about 5ft on a par 5. Sank the eagle too. I have access to Bamburgh, Arcot Hall, Rockliffe Hall and Wynard Hall at present through corporate links. I've only played Arcot so far and enjoyed it. I'm told Rockliffe Hall is a serious test but absolutely belting. I will get round them all at some stage as they are free to me, but I wouldn't want to go hack up their championship course
Wor Jim a golf coach? Surely not. I'd have Jim down as the candid camera type, just as you're about to take your shot Jim would shout something or cough...where are you Jim to confirm or deny? <laugh>

I play very, very occasionally and when I do I play a very, very unsociable game. It's not the wanting to win part...well it's not all the wanting to win part which makes it unsociable, it's the walking across the fairway from one side to the other following where that fluke gust of wind took it off line.

Years back I played a midweek round and went round in a rather decent 73. The best I'd managed for ages. The next day my then next door neighbour, who was a golfing addict, had gone for a round and had come back boasting that he'd just gone round in 79 which was his best of the season so far. My wife who he had been talking to and who didn't like him and who wanted to take him down a peg or two then informed him of my previous day's score and suggested we should play a round together.

For the rest of that Summer I had to duck and dive and avoid him to make sure we didn't play that game, it was Hell.

What I hadn't told my wife was that my round of 73 had been at Backworth Golf Course and for those that know Backworth is a 9 hole course not an 18 hole course.

Wasn't it Rolo who was the Golf man? Seem to think he's mentioned it before. If not him it was someone based abroad.

Just remembered the last time I was on a course was at Blyth and I managed to get sunstroke in Blyth on a cloudy day and have 2 old fellas (yes, older than me) taking turns to carry my bag as I hadn't borrowed a trolley thing.

Yes, such is the game <grr> After having birdied the par 4 second during yesterday's play, I had another bash at it later on. Same result getting on the green in two, then three putted for a bogey <grr>
I aim to play more and practice like crazy over the winter months. Hopefully it’ll make me a tad more consistent

I've been rumbled.....:emoticon-0100-smile

Modesty prevents me from posting details of my long career as a Golf Professional on here.
I retired from full time coaching 6 years ago to concentrate on my other business interests. I'm afraid the travelling and spending weeks away from home became a bit of a chore.

I've played inconsistently for years but joined a local club properly this year. I'm not that great but getting there.

Trying to break 90 and nearly did it last time out. Took 2 6's on the last two (par 4's) to finish in 90 so was annoyed. Bottled it under the pressure. Had an 8 and a 7 in there also do should have been easily under.

How many numbers are involved in golf? Sounds like I'll need a GCSE maths refresher course if I play.

I bet if you play regularly, get to know the course and which clubs to use on which hole, then your score will come down mate.
