Pik Botha. Anyone who can serve as a cabinet minister in an apartheid regime, then under Nelson Mandela is worth a mantion.

Even after all these years I can still barely believe the Aparteid system did not end in a horrific bloodbath. Huge credit and respect must go to everybody who worked to avoid that happening, whichever side of the system they were originally coming from.
I know South Africa still has many troubles and great inequality even today. But all my life I had thought the old white rule was only going to end one way - and not a peaceful way.

I'm not going to engage in a debate about what happened in South Africa.
There is no 'right' or 'wrong' point of view, and besides this would not be the right thread for such a debate.
