Their fans were used as a byword for standing by your team, even in the third tier of football. All it takes is a decade and £2 billion to destroy over 100 years of history.

    I don't like today......give me yesterday

When they were 2 down at Wembley to Gillingham in the league 1 play off going into stoppage time there end of Wembley was half empty, amazing how many 'supporters' missed their subsequent comeback and win on penalties

I thought of that as I was typing. It's not great but those fans were still pretty loyal when faced with United winning everything in sight. I used to feel an affinity with them during the 90's. Now they've become a bunch of spolied, entitled ****ers.

    According to Opta....

Manchester City are the first English team to lose four consecutive Champions League matches in the competition's history.

    Good. **** 'em.

Some of those United fans are probably Citeh fans now! I've heard a couple with London accents on TalkShite - I wonder how long they've been supporters? It would be brilliant if one of the hosts asked them how they thought their previous club was doing at the moment.

Naturally, Cornet was linked with us back in January.

I'm going to guess Ndombele's pricetag just went up ahead of January as well...

Really? I wonder if chief WUM of TalkShite will give Citeh the bollocking they deserve for that performance? We'll see because he most certainly does not distribute his bile evenly, and rarely if ever criticises Citeh.

I restrict my listening to Danny Kelly, Max Rushden and H&J. The rest is garbage.

Citeh don't have enough fans to make it worth their while going after them in a major way.

I seem to remember Real Madrid got well stuffed in the group stages last year only to go on and win the bloody thing, let's not RCL Citeh shall we?

I still don't understand what's happened there, as I haven't heard anything particularly negative from their fans.
You look at West Ham, for example, and it's clear that the supporters are pissed off with the owners and the stadium.
City either never had this issue or it wasn't well publicised.

I also don't get why they haven't "benefited" from an influx of glory supporters. Is it too soon?
Manchester's hardly some remote, tiny village and their tickets are pretty cheap, so why aren't they selling out constantly?
The old fans seem to have dwindled, for some reason, while there's not as many new ones to make up the difference, despite their success.

PSV vs Young Boys in the final?

Worth it for the sponsors' collective nervous breakdown

I have lived in Chelsea heart land for years. I used to drink in a pub that had a few of their 'boys' in it. These were long term fans, a few years younger than me, probably going from the late 70's or early 80's. Most of them were tough cookies and went home and away back in the days before Abramovic. Think of an archetypal Chelsea fan and you'd be spot on.

By the time I moved house in 2011 they'd pretty much all stopped going with any regularity. They nearly all said that it had changed too much and it wasn't the cost but the massively increased numbers of new fans, lots of tourists, worsening atmosphere due to standing problems, etc. This is exactly the same as West Ham are experiencing at The White Elephant. I would expect the same at Citeh. They have changed the nature of the club and it doesn't belong to the old fan base any more.

It could happen at Spurs, although having a dedicated home end with safe standing and a lack of trophy hunting new fans might well operate to prevent it. Let's hope so.

I know that some of the Chelsea old boys lost interest or were priced out, as well as feeling alienated by the tourists and new supporters.
There's a pretty clear line between their old school racists hooligans fans and current glory hunters group that can't remember them being crap.

City don't have the new fan issue, have kept the prices down and seem to have sorted out a poorly run club, albeit by chucking money at it.
I haven't heard complaints about the new stadium or it's location, but it's possible that it's an issue.
Why no glory hunters, though? What's keeping the younger fans away? Is it the possibility of bumping into a Gallagher brother?

Playing Oasis would put me off but then again, the music at Spurs has always been complete rubbish.

It's not Maine Road and it's not the old Citeh. Some of the Chelsea 'boys' also got bored with being enormously successful. It all adds up to it not being what you knew and loved.

I had real problems when The Shelf became all seater. It really did alter everything for a while. I went from being a regular to an occasional attendee. It didn't lessen my love for football or the club but it seriously damaged the whole experience for a time.

Eventually I got over it and came back. It was still the same club, same location, same pubs, same family and friends. Everything has changed at Citeh and The Spammers, so that may not happen for lots of their old fanbase?
