A word on Gomez, he's been brilliant and has had some tough games against Zaha (Pace) and Murray (clever, good in the air) stood up to both tests well and is great on the ball as well. Lovren isn't walking back into the team at this point.
I saw that too. stick with that stuff.. leave the cryuff turns to lallana when he comes on for 5mins and leave chipping the ball over forwards heads alone. Thats how you win titles.
I agree though... we have not "clicked" yet.
I agree that his style of passing will enable us to beat high presses. Teams will inevitably sit right off and just not press at all so him sweeping up will become more important. a few games where he pings a glorious pass to salah ala gerrard and teams will just sit off in their own half. That will move our back 4 line higher so sweeping up will be critical. If he tries beat the one forward chasing the ball and play a pass he will be caught out.

wheres the reward?
We kept possession. We won the game. 3 points.
The good thing about Gomez is he can only get better. It is easy to forget he is only 21 yrs. He will get better with games and when you see him, TAA and other youngsters get a chance means we will be in the front line when trying to sign up the best youth players due to us not being afraid to throw them in.
Where did I say that?I’m sorry Saint but that is a mentality straight from the 70’s, where English football was full of brutes looking to smash the ball and the whenever possible
There will be moments when a good hoof is required but that shouldn’t be the default mentality. We should be looking to build attacks from the back - if we simply reverted to clearing the ball all the time, we’d struggle massively because we don’t have a big midfield or attack who could win the ball.
I also agree, his pace is crucial. the next challenge is a big CF who won't stand near VVD all game.
I hope klopp keeps playing him.
and risk?
should easily have been robbed and open goal. result 1 point and instead of saving 2 with a vital save he costs 2.
Its a fine line between hero and villain.
He should concentrate on delivering what his manager clearly wants
"not too cool"
Interesting you say so as he has been targeted as the weak link in all 3 games and it is by virtue of teams avoiding VVD that he will fast track his experience and become as good as VVD hopefully

Lovren is not a bad defender. He has had the misfortune of deputizing at LCB where he has never been comfortable at all. All his best performances have been at RCB. If you intend to play a high line then he is not your man however in games where we are under pressure he shines. Gomez has pace to burn and that should get him through the moments when he is beaten by his man. All in all I like the personnel problems that we have.Interesting that, I noticed myself that he had stood up to the challenges well but hadn't thought about teams targeting him. As much as Lovren has improved I've never been convinced that it was the right partnership but with Gomez and VVD it seems right and they work together well.
There's a risk in hoofing. Remember when Karius did a pretty decent punch but then Spurs just smashed it back in with a screamer? Based on Alisson's position on the pitch (nowhere near his goal) anything other than a red shirt invites a speculative shot at open goal.
Klopp is playing to the other managers, basically saying "oh no we have a rogue keeper, would be such a shame if our opponents all pushed up the pitch 10 metres trying to press him, hint hint"
i know saint, it was just a general quote.
don't think i have either to be honest, just seemed the general consensus on here.
be bombarded with i havent either quotes now![]()

Still don't understand how VVD can win all his duels but we cannot find his head at corners and set pieces. Lovren is actually our most dangerous CB at set pieces.
you mean the open hands slap down into the middle.of the pitch....
row z never had not never will have a risk of conceding. you simply reset and go again.
oh and no klopp isn't playing games he is being honest. one of his best traits.
Since when is row Z the same as giving it back to the opposition, in play?Remember when Ederson csme
rushing our and looking to hoof it up the pitch and kicked it to Mo to score? Bit more composure and could have just found a team mate and started a city attack
