We're stuck with what we have now, be that good or bad.

Everyone cough up what you think is our strongest starting 11...

    -------------------------Bendtner-------------------------
    Sess------------------------------------------------Gyan
    --------Vaughan---------------------Larsson----------
    ----------------------Catts----------------------------
    Bards--------Brown--------Bramble------O'Shea

I like the look of this team, but i can see Gyan throwing ALL of his toys out the pram being out on the right. For ME, this team starts to give me hope and confidence.

Maybe against the better teams as this is a defensive formation and looks to counter attack. At home I would like us to play very attacking as I feel our defense is very stable with the O'shea & Brown there so,

    -----------------Gordon--------------------

    O'shea-------Brown------Bramble-----Bardsley

    Sessegnon----Vaughan----Cattermole----Richardson

    -----------Gyan---------Bendtner-----------

Gives us pace out wide and balance, although I would expect the wingers to switch flanks as they now do in the modern game. Maybe a bit harsh dropping Larrson but im torn between pace and skill with Sess or solid and good deliveries with Larrson but its a nice option to have.

I would swap Clattermole for either Colback or Gardiner...Its just I like to start and finish a game with 11 men.

I do not know how Richardson gets anywhere near anyone's team choice, unbelievable! Everyone has an opinion I supose.

    ------------------------------Mig-------------------------------------
    O'Shea----------Turner---------------Brown--------------McBardo
    Larsson-----Gardner/Catts-----Colback/Vaughan------------Sess
    ------------------Bendtner---------Gyan/Ji-------------------------

I do think Cattermole is quite limited beyond tackling. Fair enough I think he breaks up the opposition's play, but I think he breaks up ours too. He cant thread a ball, he is very slow and he has a truly woeful shot. The central midfield 4 are interchangable depending on opponent. Richardson makes the tea at half time and slices the oranges.

I'm in agreement with this, but would find a place in CM for Gardner (for the home games at least).

I think we have real & credible opportunity for goals with this team.

    For me:

    Bendtner
    Gyan
    Sess....Catts....Gardner....Larsson
    Bardsley...Bramble...Brown...O'Shea
    Gordon

Best part is the options we have on the bench. Also got Meyler and Campbell to come back too.

Agreed that's probably his best position, and he played well that game. However, I would hope that Gyan and Bendtner will play as our strikers which means he has to fit into the side somewhere else...

His distribution is shocking which should rule him out of playing centre mid. And he doesnt come close to being a better option than Sess or Larsson on the wings IMO

And the less said about him at LB the better!!

i can remember 4 games where Richardson has played well since he's been here, as you say Blackpool away, Stoke away last season, the skunks at home and pompey at home, doesn't say a lot for him, just my opinion like

    I'd go with

    ------------------Gordon-----------------
    O'Shea-----Brown------Titus--------Bardo

    Larsson-----Catts------Gardner------Sess

    -----------------Gyan-------------------
    ---------------Bendtner-----------------

Gyans a good passer, and would find Bendtners runs, and Gyan is better a bit deeper as he likes to have the ball.

EDIT** brandSAFC, didn't see your post, but clearly i agree!!

If he keeps this up Cumbrian...he will be Sunderlands version of Aled Jones.
As a footballer I just don't rate the lad. I think he is one of these players with nothing between his ears, when the red mist comes down he loses all sense of reality...as seen at the Wigan game last season, sent off 2 minutes after been booked.
He was also so lucky to stay on the field against the mags. I like a player who plays with aggresion and passion but Catts is a cynical player not the kind I like to see, especially in our team.

Hes been playing out of position mate, I can see why you dont like him after the first few games but as some have said you just need to look at last year to see how useful he was.

Bit harsh as he has been a great servant to the club so far, I would give him a shot at left wing definately.
