As I have said so many times; Winning the first and subsequent games is every bit as important as winning the last. You can't lose the first game of the season and shrug, 'Oh well, there are another 37'.

McCarthy
Cedric Stephens tall guy yoshi Bert
Romeu hojberg
Armstrong Redmond
Austin

My revised line up with 3 at CB.

Bench; Gunn, target, bednatek, jwp, Lemina, long, ings

4-1 saints COYR

Good weekend? My local jazz orchestra started their set tonight with OWTS. Now if only the boys can get a win it will be a good weekend.

Presuming 3 at the back:

McCarthy
Cedric Yoshida Vestegaard Hoedt* Bertrand
Lemina Hojbjerg
Armstrong Gabbiadini
Austin

Bench: Gunn, Stephens, Targett, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Elyounoussi, Ings

With apologies to Forster, Bednarek, McQueen, Reed, Davis, Redmond, Long. Gallagher, who didn't make the 18.

*I'd rather have Stephens than Hoedt starting but suspect Hughes will pick Hoedt here.

I’d prefer Stephens to Hoedt in a back three. Think Stephens is a decent defender on the front foot. It’s a shame he is so poor in the air, but alongside Vestergaard & Yoshida that could be hidden a little bit and he has the pace for recovery tackles.

Anyway, part of me would be happy to see if Vestergaard & Yoshida can get us back to a back four on occasion and open up a spot for a body further forward

If I couldn't be slightly blasé about this match, I wouldn't be able to go. I only risked buying a ticket because you can't get relegated on day 1. [HASHTAG]#scaredycat[/HASHTAG]
