but if you want to play with the big boys, you have to stump up the cash.

It's the balance between being competative and not breaking the bank.

Can imagine there being a significant difference between our current 'high earners' and Deeney's salary.

I also feel centre mid is a more pressing need.

Agree that Deeney would be a good Warnock type player though.

Your previous PL experience, although brief, must have left some notion of how to survive in this most demanding of Leagues.
Balance is key, as you intimate. But the pressure to spend big, with big wages, is enormous. A bit of luck is needed with new signings, as the size of the fee doesn't bring any guarantees. You are already aware of this.

I suspect Warnock had a hand in creating Deeney. <laugh>

Zohore is a big guy and very skilful, but can be a little limp-wristed on times. Madine is the opposite - puts it about but with little skill. Neither has a track record at this level whereas Deeney does.

So he's a Warnock type of player - so what? I suspect Deeney (if he comes) would be a perfect fit up front.

I cannot see this is going to happen.

He is way out of our wage structure allegedly plus would he want to come to city?

I’d be disappointed with this if he signed as I also don’t think he’s much cop plus is 30, has form for sulking plus £15m - you’re having s laugh.

Looks useful. A big unit with over 280 appearances through France, Turkey, Spain and UK. Also played for Senegal in recent World Cup.

Downside is 8 different clubs in nearly 11 years.

Not the box to boxer we crave but as a defensive midfielder could certainly do the job for us.

Get him and Grujic and that would be midfield sorted with Grujic in a more forward role.

I think Colin is happy with his defence with double cover across the back four.

Therefore a striker with more than a casual threesome relationship with him, the ball and the back of the net would be the final piece in the jigsaw.

I would be tempted to play NML , as the main striker , on occasion .
He's big strong , fast and mobile , and not a bad finisher . Not the best in the air , but Murphy, Junior and NML , with Reid just behind , would be some front four .
Ralls and Gunner (Maybe 2 new CM's) holding and protecting the defence (which picks itself).
Exciting times, and we haven't broken the bank , this time .

Casual threesome relationship? Always dodgy that BFB pal, will come and bite you bum in my experience! Just look at Aber as an example...poor sod! :emoticon-0103-cool:

Anyone here concerned that city haven’t landed any new players since Warnock’s poaching of players from the championship?

It’s now a sellers market.

Window shuts next week.

ps. Looks like Bogle is off to Ipswich. Preferred to keep him than either Ward or Madine.

Mark Harris gone on loan to Newport until 2nd Jan.

Good move for him. Get proper, competitive game time under his belt.

I know someone with links to the club. I suggested a loan for Rhys Healey would be good for the player and both clubs. Apparently his wages are too expensive even if we pay half.

If they hadn't had their cup run last year they would have been knee deep in the soft and smellies.
