A mixture of religions there. Japan is one of the most intolerant of people from different backgrounds as well, regarding others as inferiors.
Yup, but then they aren't a part of the Western world so naturally they will have differing viewpoints to us. I'm not endorsing it, of course, simply pointing out the obvious. Any road down, the removal of the flag is a flagrant slam against the LGBT community in an age where tolerance is to be encouraged. Hopefully the buggers are dragged out into the streets and made to watch The Greatest Showman on repeat for 19 days straight and then sent straight to Propaganda for an all night rave.
Just read a headline " Sterling HUGELY undervalued!" Unfortunately is was some financial bloke's thought on the currency.
Hahaha, I know two gay blokes and they're smashing, you wouldn't even know. FFS, is your next line going to be I'm not racist, I know a black person and he's alright. ****ing puffin
It wasn’t arbitrary (look it up), because it wasn’t a random selection, it was a very clear choice of stations to ensure that all of their major building were flying the flag. That was the official policy that they announced, publicly (just because you think a policy has to cover a particular thing doesn’t make it the case...and just because it doesn’t cover what you want it to cover doesn’t make everything arbitrary either) It wasn’t done to support Hull Pride, it was done during the Humber area’s Pride month (July) to show their support for the LGBT+ community across their area. As was announced in Brid press at the time when they started to fly it. As was shown by their attendance at the North Lincs Pride event too.
Why wouldn't a black bloke be alright? Being white isn't a sign of superiority, just a result of a white bloke getting it together with a white woman and not something you play any part in. ****ing gannet, they gobble up any crap.
A gay bloke or gay blokes? Make your mind up. I know a number of gays, both male and female. I don't have any issues with them.
Speaking as someone who self-identifies as a gammon, I've found some of the viewpoints expressed on here to be occasionally illuminating and even perceptive. I'm not sure I'll be watching the Eurovision Song contest next year or taking a greater interest in soft furnishings, but if I do, it won't because a rainbow flag influenced my views.( Although it has influenced the way in which I view Humberside Police's clumsy political opportunism and comical ineptitude.)
Maybe just arbitrary use of the s? By the way, I checked and one of the people I attended Hull Pride with is a Muslim. I didn’t want to say that as I was unsure, but you seemed to want proof that Muslims attended Hull Pride last night so thought you’d be interested.
Was the popular Hull performer Miss Fanny Nicentite there? Long term successor to Bobby Mandrell maybe.
Ha. Proper fill-yer-boots thread this is/was for you then. Gays - muslims and even a mention of 'inferior races' at one point. Just need 'chavs' or 'blacks' to come up now for the full bingo set.
Au contraire Leon, whilst I happily tick many gammon boxes, I don't recognise myself in the xenophobic misanthrope to which you allude. 'Chav' is a lazy and shockingly-overused word, used mainly by social snobs many of whom are fur coat and no knickers themselves. I recommend Michael Collins' book 'The Likes of Us' to those interested in the demonisation of the type of people labelled 'chavs'. Surely it is possible to question the wisdom of the police flying 'me too' trendy symbols ? Have we become so binary? On the whole, a decent thread if it developed a little too much into a Connors - Borg base line rally type exchange. We definitely need the new season to begin. The troops are tired of being confined to barracks and are starting to get fractious.
I’m only aware of the numbers in the group I was with. In that group Muslims were over represented in comparison to the % in the population of Hull, and the wider metropolitan area. Anyway saying ‘How inclusive’ is a pointless statement. You weren’t arguing that Hull Pride wasn’t an inclusive event, you were arguing that Muslims would be unlikely to want to attend it.
