More Left Backs please?
I think this is Cortese playing footballers like the stock market. Buying left backs while they're cheap now and selling them in January when there is a shortage and the price is higher.
Not a rumour but I got the impression from Adkins and his interview after the game that a signing is going to take place tomorrow. Naturally recent history proves that with Saints we're likely to put off a player by making his cup of tea too milky during the negotiations.
Whats going on with Mancienne at the moment? With the arrival of Cork it got me thinking that the real bargains could come from the big clubs and players who have made good impressions at Championship level over a couple of years but are still light years away from the 1st team.

Wayne Bridge and James Beattie rumours always seem to crop up on deadline day, can't see Bridge happening as we already have too many left backs and have shelled out probably are largest fee of the window (so far...) on a left back.
I think it's fairly obvious we want a striker and a centre back. With regards to the striker, I think it could be Rodriguez if we agree a sensible fee, maybe with part exchange with Puncheon or Dickson. I have no idea where the centre back will come from as our targets have been fairly random, but I'm fairly sure that NA and NC will purchase a good CB tomorrow.
I honestly hope I wake up tomorrow and Rory Delap will no longer be our record signing

How about you wake up to find that our record transfer fee has indeed been broken.....but that it still remains as Delap.
After tonight I feel we definately need a new centre back. Offensively we are one of the best teams in the division and look class. We just look slightly shaky at the back though and if we could get a solid CB to partner Fonte then we could challenge for the automatics this year!
In tonights post match interview he said he has been on the phone all day an he sounded optimistic about a signing or two tomorrow.
He mentioned a 'couple of faces could enter the building'... Take it with a pinch of salt for now.

Likewise, I am all set for deadline day. Went food shopping today so I'm all stocked up and ready to go, SSN on, and all other news sources in full swing for me.
Just caught a glimpse of Sky Sports News and can confirm that Kirsty Gallagher has a nice rack.
Liverpool newspaper saying that Saints have had a bid rejected by Everton for Beckford. Doesn't say if its a new offer or the one widely reported last week.
I thought we would probably not sign any more players, but Adkins interview suggests that there are still possibilities. Preseason, I thought we were a strong team who needed only a couple of tweaks to finish midtable, however, we have done so well that my expectations have risen. Believing we can get promotion, I now hope we strengthen the team as there is a long hard season ahead. No point, however, in just buying anyone, so get the right player(s) or go into the loan market and look to buy in January.
