a very valid point Matthew. If the reported salary of £90k + per week is correct, you could fund half a championship team on that. Even if you could halve it with any relegation clause, its still a slug of cash.
A fit Bony would score hatsful of goal in the Championship. But as Matty says, just cant see them paying him that sort of money, when we have to fund the 10m contract Rooney has just signed at DC UTD
Blimey, £90k pw is he really on that? I'm probably being cynical but maybe its a ploy to get some Greek club to fork out a loan fee for him. Nice story if true though, with him at full throttle it could be the difference between mid-table and the play-offs. Can't see the board taking the punt though.
Someone posted a list of players wages a while ago on another site and the three highest paid players were A.Ayew at 85k, Bony at 100,000k and Fer at 55k all per week, Mawson for example was on 13k. So unless the first three have relegation clauses to reduce their wage you can see why the club would want to move them on. We mustn't make the same mistake as Villa who hung on to their highly paid stars in the hope of getting straight back up and we all know what's happened to them. We mustn't make the same mistake.
Even bigger blimey £100K not a chance he'll be staying unless he takes a huge pay-cut and forgoes his bonuses, play, goal etc .
I agree but a lot depends who stays We may need a centre back,a fullback who can play on both flanks and if J Ayew goes another player alongside Mcburnie. Will Clucas and Fer be able to give us the experience in midfield in the championship. I'm concerned that it doesn't seem be the case the owners are willing to invest in players and I don't see us signing players to get us back up.
If that is his salary, there are very limited options as to clubs who could afford to take him off your hands, that's the worry. Football in general has a lot to answer for. Creating it's own mess financially.
Can't believe it is CCF, that puts him up there with players from top six club. Half that and he'd still be expensive for us.
But remember when he left us he did go to a top six club and Man City loaned him to Stoke and we were the fools that paid a fee for him. Same poor transfer business that we have done over the last 3 seasons.
I also note that Fulton, Grimes, Mcburnie and Roberts are now shown in the first team squad on official Swans website.
We are going to experiment with academy players, you will not see much in the way of transfers in, will it be enough to compete in the Championship? I doubt it very much..........
I read a while ago that Bony was on 120k per week, but Man City we’re picking some of his salary up, but not sure what % they are picking up.
We are of our own making i'm afraid........Not a great deal of quality but we do have some quality in the coaching staff and if they can produce a winning formlar like Martinez did then we might be pleasantly surprised......We have been in this position plenty of times in my lifetime before following the Swans.....It will come down to how Potts, Reed and the Legend Curtis gets the players to play and they have plenty of experience between them.......I am like the rest of us feeling the doom and gloom with the way the club has acted but if you look through the squad of players then it is not so bad and if the coaching staff can gel the players like Martinez did then you never know they may surprise us all.......
Bony apparently wants to stay at the club, and repay the faith that the club put in him, by bringing him back? Cannot see the Yanks wanting to pay his enormous wages this season, what Bony wants and what he gets will be two different things!!......
