Really? Been one of our best players for me.

Yes he's very limited but it's our weakest position for sure and he's undoubtedly the best of a bad bunch.
He played well in the tournament linking the midfield to attack and keeping the ball well. Last night though he was poor.
Not saying you can't improve in that position though, I'm hoping he gets shifted out by Fabinho with us as well.

Henderson did alright, but he's no Iniesta. At the end of the day England just lacked the extra bit of quality needed at this level. We are a decent enough squad, but we don't have any players who you'd really call world class.

If you’re looking for a problem in our midfield it’s definitely not Henderson. Was Alli even playing?

I think he was carrying an injury in this tournament, so maybe not 100%, but he offered very little for the whole tournament. Beginning to look like a player who's had a couple of good seasons and maybe over hyped ?

The kid can definitely play but he didn’t have the luxury of two defensive midfielders to do his work for him in this team. Lingard would have been better in his role, with hindsight. Fair play to Lingard who had to do a more industrious kind of role throughout the tournament and did it very well. Didn’t think he had it in him.

Alli had one good season and people were saying he was world class. He believes the hype unfortunately.

I know people who know him well and he’s apparently a really good kid so I’m not sure about that. Big season for him now to prove he’s not a flash in the pan.

In 4 years time i'll be close to 60<yikes>.........Will we win it again in my lifetime?
Answers on a postcard please.

Lots to think about with the formation but I think it was heavy legs more than formation that got you.

For 20 minutes either side of HT we conceded the midield, sat deep and gave them too much of the ball. That was naivety, and the fact we have lacked a bit of quality and experience in midfield throughout the tournament anyway.

Think the Euros will be a good chance for us but I expect the top countries to vastly improve by the next WC

This was our chance...that's why it hurts. People saying onwards and upwards for this team...maybe but it will only be much tougher next time around and in the heat of Qatar.

<wah> not happening

True. But that doesn't mean we can't win the Euros in 2 years time, ir even the WC in 4.

It's all about the team, and we have finally found a way of playing that suits us, and that any player can be invited into and know what's expected of him.

This is not the end, this is the start of something.
