Maybe they went for a lot more than the clubs are telling us? Liverpool and Leicester fans are happy their owners did such good business and Hull City fans don't know how much the club has in its piggy bank. It's a win win.
If Leicester cash in on Harry for say £65 million thats a £48 million profit and with Mahrez going for £60 million at a cost of was it 500k.... they're cash loaded. A pal of mine Leicester fan says Schmeichel is going too..
I've no idea what went on behind the scenes, or how the deal ended up being done, but Leicester certainly believed they were competing against others and were expecting to have to pay far more. Funny looking back, that Bruce said '£12m wouldn’t buy Robertson’s right foot'.
Someone said to me today that we did have clauses for Maguire? One such clause being a set figure for every England appearance Maguire makes. Could be bollocks, but we live in hope.
The Allams where only interested in selling players as quickly as possible to top up their bank accounts. Why would they put in sell on clauses that would only benefit owners in the future. Asset stripped us.
I imagine in the same way most managers say he was cheap and expected to pay more to boost the player. Brucey did it a lot. The fact remains harry was the greatest centre half ever ever ever yet it was only Leicester in for him. No one would have paid 26 million for harry last season.
We said at the time that we wouldn't entertain offers under £20m, then we did (Everton and Newcastle were supposed to be in for him as well).
