Excellent. Well done Seb, good recovery Hamilton and Kimi after his penalty. Good drive from Leclerc, shame we didn’t get to see where he’d have ended. What a weekend.
I'm only interested in a tennis match if a GB player is involved....yes, I am that partisan....so have been enjoying quite a few doubles matches. Tough today....I had one mixed double match on the TV and one on the computer at the same time and both reached critical mass at the same time. Jamie Murray+Azarenko and Clarke+Dart both got through, but now play each other in the semi-finals. This means the fans will be struck dumb as they won't want to offend anyone...do they go for crowd favourite Jamie or the youngsters who got in on a wild card (and who are just lovely). I suspect Jamie and Azarenko will be just too good, but I hope it's a good game anyway.
I expect they will be raving about the longest ever semi-final at Wimbledon, but in truth it is a borefest between two *tall, serve dominant players that aren't great at returning, that's why they can't break serve. neither stands a chance in the final against an all round great player IMO. * These types ruin grass court tennis as a spectacle.
They might do. Just think if these two keep going on then that djoko Rafa match will start who knows when. Rafa and joka will both have far less rest time than the other 2. I don't understand why they started the match so late. What happens tomorrow? They start first keep going at it and get kicked off for the women's final?
That's certainly what this fifth set has been boring (and elements of the fourth set). Very boring. But the first three sets (despite all going to tie-breaks) were excellent. Top quality tennis, with break points won and saved, decent returning.
I'm watching the boys semi-final featuring Jack Draper. Only a 3 set match at this age and we are at nearly 3 and a half hours already. Both excellent players...great game.
I’m coming to the conclusion that John McEnroe is right, there has to be a tiebreak in the 5th set, maybe at 10-10, as neither of these guys is going to be fit to play a Wimbledon Final in less than 48 hours time. The spectators don’t deserve that.
