We need to finish top, because if we do make it to the quarters, our match will be on the Friday rather than the Saturday, and I've got a bloody wedding to attend on the Saturday.
He just fed me some crap about not wanting to think that far ahead or something. He's really changed since he became England manager. His head's right up his arse these days.
The earlier matches have certainly thrown a spanner in the works in relation to the plan tonight to finish 2nd. A last 16 match against Japan is very appealing. But I'm not sure if it's appealing enough to then accept what could follow; it's still only one KO round out of four. Tough.
Brave man risking losing. English fans are all set for a knees up as we are now apparently invincible.
Despite what some of you are saying, that doesn’t look a bad side, especially as Belgium have made even more changes:
I know England lost but I haven't stopped celebrating Germany going out yet. Missus thought England were playing when S Korea scored and my eldest and me were doing a bit of father/son bonding dancing around the living room
We at least found out that we still don't have a decent keeper and that Dier makes Henderson look "world class."
I don't understand the Pickford hate. He was OK. It's a bit like Hart they go from pedestal status to being awful in fans' opinion, whereas I think they are quite good but not amazing.
I have always said that I don’t think Pickford is as good as was being made out, even back at Sunderland. He’s usually an excellent shop stopper but his handling is often poor. I thought he was particularly poor with his handling in the U21 tournament last year (or whenever the one he played in was).
We don't have much of a choice with goalkeepers (an area that we used to excel in) but Pickford did ok. There aren't lots of alternatives. Glad to see our defenders dropping back and protecting the posts when needed....everyone's duty to defend.
