What colours me surprised is reporters still haven't figured out that, as he's still an Amiens player, there is no reason for us to negotiate with Lyon for his signature.

On the face of it we appear to be doing exactly what we did with Toby: register an interest in the last couple of weeks of his loan to another club, so even if the club he's on loan with do activate the clause to make his loan permanent there's reason for him to stall negotiations so he can negotiate with us, and expect we won't be receiving a Christmas card from Lyon if it goes to plan.
But if Lyon really do have an option to buy him for EUR 8m then we've got no alternative but to negotiate with Lyon. Amiens can't sell to us unless Lyon don't exercise and it's a no brainer for Lyon.

That's where the waiting game comes into it: Lyon haven't activated the clause, which becomes null and void when his loan ends on the 30th, so we're in a position to negotiate with Amiens as he's still their player. Remember, we didn't negotiate with Southampton at any point to sign Toby even though they had an option to make his loan permanent, we submitted a bid to Atletico Madrid and played the waiting game.

If all it took to sign players was to negotiate with a club who don't own them, we may as well offer FC United £500k to sign Anthony Martial.

But Atletico Madrid had an option to cancel Southampton's option to buy him so the situation was different.

Of course this has led to speculation that he's this week's Alderweireld replacement, which ignores the fact he played far more games at left back than at centre back for Atleti last season, so if there's anything to this other than a social media bod having a bad case of Fat Finger Syndrome it's the worst case scenario for Danny Rose as he certainly won't have to Google his replacement

No they didn't, instead they had a clause that said if they paid Southampton £1.5m they could accept a higher bid - but this is academic considering we signed Toby on 8th July, a week after his loan to Southampton expired, and this is why the situation with NDombele is remarkably similar.

I got a tweet notification for this at work yesterday, glanced at the preview quickly and just presumed it was something to do with Moura.
What the hell was all this about? Hmmm...

The one issue would be whether the player has contractually committed himself to the permanent move in advance and if that's enforceable. If he hasn't and the player refuses to sign for Lyon, I don't see that there's a lot that Lyon can do about it, no matter what agreements might be in place between the two clubs.

Also, I would expect that Amiens might be consulting a sports lawyer or two and asking the player to reconsider his options, given that they'll be £25m + better off if someone can find a hole in the Lyon deal and a move to the PL happens.

You'd be bonkers not to have an agreement with the player as well as the club.

So, we haven't made contact, but there is interest. Whatever that means.

Levy, do it.

Once again, why would we make contact with Lyon? Unless he's signed a pre-contract agreement with Lyon, and as things stand there is no reason to assume this as Lyon haven't announced this and we certainly haven't heard Jean-Michel Aulas bellow from the rooftops how he's signed a pre-contract agreement (and considering how Aulas is hardly a shrinking violet, coupled with how quick he was to publicly condemn Saltypool for their Fekir jiggery pokery, that's something which stands out) the only club we should be making contact with is Amiens due to the fact that if NDombele does not sign for Lyon by the 30th, he's their player to sell.

Le 10 Sport are reporting that Lyon are in discussions to sign Jean-Eudes Aholou from Strasbourg. I wonder why they would suddenly be in the market for a defensive midfielder who has many of the same attributes as the bloke they loaned in from Amiens?

Who? Good luck to him. An unusual move.
It might be a pretty smart move as Arka clearly have ambition, as in 2015-16 they were in the second tier but since then they've been promoted to the Ekstraklasa, won the Polish Cup, and appeared in a second Polish Cup final.

Let's just hope that doesn't mean they're a Polish Stoke...
