For those interested in learning a bit about what seems to be our new signing, here's a YouTube compilation below. As SOTM pointed out, Barrios is now following Spurs on twitter (well, the official Spurs Espanol Twitter to be precise) and as silly as it sounds, whenever this happens it does tend to signal a player is very much likely on their way, IIRC Dave Sanchez and Juan Foyth also done this prior to their official announcements. He's been labelled the Colombian Kante and has apparently been key to Boca's recent success.
Since there's nobody on earth who can make sense of radar diagrams of xG or the other things people dredge up for players, instead here's something that makes sense to people: a couple of supercuts of Barrios' performances He strikes me more of a Sandro player than the Kante I've seen him compared to as his job is to lock down midfield, and what stands out is how cleanly he dispossessed opponents given how agricultural some of the tackling in the Argentine league can be. I've also seen comparisons to Dier in how he drops back between the two centre backs, while his stamina and tenacity is drawing comparisons with Gattuso, and Argentine pundits often refer to him as the Colombian Casemiro. The obvious issue is that, with Boca having already played half their league season as well as the Copa America group stages, the odds are he'd be rested for a large chunk of the season before being unleashed come the FA Cup third round in much the same way Sandro was - so that may put an end to any suggestions of Wanyama being involved in any deal for Pulisic.
That didn't take long... https://ninetyminutesonline.com/sur...-tottenham-and-leeds-touted-in-foreign-press/ https://www.footballtransfertavern....s-ambitious-move-for-talented-south-american/
Sounds like it's time for some hip surgery....or we could just pay the release clause price.... https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...ews-latest-updates-boca-juniors-a8402541.html
Bielsa Watch The Yorkshire Post are reporting that Leeds are considering a double loan for Foyth and CCV.
That's a tough one. I don't think that either is ready for the PL, so going out on loan would be the best thing. However, all our current centre halves are at the World Cup and aren't going to be seeing much action in the pre-season games. So, any loan decision will be some way off as yet.
Alasdair Gold on football.london says that we're not following up any interest we may have had in Wilmar......I always preferred Betty, myself and thought that Fred was probably getting his rocks off next door.
I thought it sounded familiar as I was writing it but couldn't remember where from. Grant & Naylor....pure genius.
If we’re going all-Flintstones, maybe we should just up the ante and get a new mascot?? An upgrade of course on any other team that might have similar.......
Reports are suggesting that we're one of the Premier League clubs Lyon have offered Nabil Fekir to for a £66m fee I can't think of any reason why it would be ****ing hilarious if we signed him...
Well colour me surprised. I hear we've put in an official bid. I hope this is true. This guy plus Barrios equals serious title and CL ambitions. Do it Levy, do it.
What colours me surprised is reporters still haven't figured out that, as he's still an Amiens player, there is no reason for us to negotiate with Lyon for his signature. On the face of it we appear to be doing exactly what we did with Toby: register an interest in the last couple of weeks of his loan to another club, so even if the club he's on loan with do activate the clause to make his loan permanent there's reason for him to stall negotiations so he can negotiate with us, and expect we won't be receiving a Christmas card from Lyon if it goes to plan.
I would like to know the reasons for the Poool decline (does he really have a potential injury problem, wage slut etc) .
