Lucky France , a draw would have been a fairer result.
But Australia gave a great account of themselves will give them hope in their other games. France were very ordinary in spite of the talent available to them.
Very unlucky. Got the worst of that VAR decision. France were very poor considering the talent on display.

Funny how the hacks were mouthing off yesterday about how ****e Australia were because Saudi Arabia finished ahead of them in qualifying

Obviously they don't have access to Wikipedia, as that would have told them Australia got four points off the Saudis and only finished behind them on goal difference due to a freak draw against Thailand

Didn't Australia leave out various European-based players all the time, too? Might've been the Kiwis.

So I think we can safely assume that, once again, Mark Lawrenson didn't read the dossiers FIFA send out to every broadcaster to inform their commentary teams who each and every player in the tournament is.

Anyone with an internet connection would know Benjamin Pavard is a centre back, but Lawrenson didn't have a ****ing clue at any point of his ninety minutes of snide ****ery.

I can’t remember the last time I was impressed by France. Tonnes of individuals, but I’m yet to be convinced that this group of players is a good team.

That’s Australia’s “toughest” game out of the way. After that solid performance, they’ve got to feel confident going into the next two.

Started watching the match on the bbc feed but got absolutely exasperated withLawro’s commentary so switched over to the Spanish channel. Much better. They are aware about the rules of VAR.

I just don’t he how he can go against a clear touch of the ball on the replay. <doh>

Justice though. Got themselves a penalty against Hugo. Unless Jedinak literally misses the target, he’s scoring all day long against him. Hugo doesn’t do saving penalties. <laugh>
Touching the ball does not necessarily stop it being a foul as we have seen frequently in the PL. He also got Griezmann’s foot. If the ref considers that Griezmann has been denied a goal scoring opportunity then it is a penalty.

Great quote from Glenn Hoddle, talking about Argentina.

“It’s about defending when you’re on the attack.”

Whaaa?? <confused>

Turned the Messi match off at halftime....boring! Spoilt by the Spain/Portugal game I guess.....
