Here we go. Will Hughes, 23 years old, CM, did his cruciate ligaments same as Paddy, came back and showed a bit of form same as Paddy. Moved from Derby to Watford for £8.2m 12 months ago.
Can you not find someone with more in common than age, form and injury record - perhaps with the same surname as well or at least nationality!!

Spot on - 12 months ago £8.2m add at least another 10% on due to inflation £9m+

But, as Stewart Donald says - he's not up for sale unless he asks to leave. Funny thing is that the Chronicle ran an article stating that Donald had WARNED him he would have to hand in a transfer request - making it sound like an ultimatum when it blatantly wasn't

That's a decent parallel with age and injuries but Hughes was considered a wonderkid for years so you'd expect an inflated price there. Not to mention he's had season upon season of first team experience.

Though McNair is an international. He does have that going for him over Hughes.
Was also highly rated at Man Utd - so much so that Mourinho wanted him to come to us on loan but Paddy said he wanted to leave

But as said, We could have got McNair on the cheap. Plus you have to factor 12 months later and as Benik Afobe is showing the inflation is even worse.

Yep, Ball is in McNair's court now but if that request comes in I expect us to take the eyes out who ever wants him. Not of this 6m crap, he's worth more than that on inflation, but he had a grand end of the season and most importantly that Cruciate didn't go again.

Haway half job, get them copy and pasted.

Stewart Donald has revealed there are other clubs closer to Sunderland's valuation for Paddy McNair than Brighton, though he would prefer the midfielder stays on Wearside. The Seagulls have so far had two bids for the Northern Ireland international midfielder rejected and Donald has revealed he hasn't heard back from them since the last one was turned down. Donald has already stated he doesn't want st season with four goals in his last five games. Reports in the national press had suggested Brightonto sell the in-demand midfielder this summer, McNair finished la were on the verge of signing McNair in a £7million deal. Donald took to Twitter to deny that was the case, he wrote: "No truth. I have not heard from Brighton since turning down their offer. "I don’t want to hear from them would prefer Paddy stay. "Also there are other clubs that are closer to our valuation than Brighton so I’m not sure where that story has come from. We will see." It seems Sunderland are facing an increasing battle to keep hold of their star midfielder, though, with interest strong. Brighton have had two bids rejected so far, the latest for £3.5million, while an unnamed London-based club has seen an offer of £3.75million knocked back. McNair has not indicated he wants to leave Sunderland, though he has spoken of a desire to play Premier League football again.

Paddy McNair will have to hand in a transfer request if he wants to leave Sunderland – after owner Stewart Donald said he has no intention of cashing in on the in-demand midfielder.McNair has emerged as a top transfer target for a number of clubs this summer, with Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion having already had two bids rejected.

The second offer, worth £3.75million, was again dismissed out of hand by Donald, who says Sunderland want to keep hold of the Northern Irishman unless the player himself says he wants to go.

Brighton increase their offer, but not by much as they view McNair as a squad player at this stage, and with Sunderland under no financial pressure to sell that leaves the ball in McNair’s court.

McNair spoke on international duty about his desire to play in the Premier League again, but Sunderland are hoping he stays at the club next season as manager Jack Ross looks to build a squad to get them out of League One at the first attempt.

“It’s straightforward,” said Donald, speaking on Wise Men Say podcast.

“I think most people within football realise Paddy McNair is likely to be the best midfielder in League One. On that business we don’t want to lose him.

“He’s got two years left on his contract and he hasn’t expressed a desire to leave at this stage.

“If he doesn’t want to leave and Jack wants him to in his team, he’s going nowhere.

“That will be down to Paddy, if we get an offer that we feel is acceptable, which we won’t.

“So on that basis he’s not for sale.

“It would be down to Paddy to come to us and say I really want to leave.”

Donald is wise enough to know, however, that keeping unhappy players is not always possible – just as getting rid of players on big contracts, like Jack Rodwell, can prove difficult.

He added: “Have we got any intention of selling him (McNair)? Absolutely not. But in the modern world of football it is a transient business.

“You can’t control completely your players because it seems to be in modern football, as we’re finding out, if you’re signed to Sunderland and your player wants to stay but you don’t want them to, you’re stuck with them.

“If they want to leave and you have got a contract, they always tend to find a way to leave.

“It’s about finding the right balance. We’re not ridiculous – we now that if we get offers in for our players and there’s a real desire to leave it becomes about doing the best we can.

“But at this stage the offer camne in for Paddy but it was one of four or five offers for Paddy. They’re all ‘no’.

We’ve got no intention of selling Paddy McNair and Jack, I think, will take the view that he probably wants to build the team around him.”

I leave you to that .
Ok, I think Coleman has fallen, short, McNair is injury prone and I fall out with Brian now and then. However Marcus, you should moderate not ban people who have different opinions to you and your dad !!!
You turn people away and kill this board.
To all the other posters, thanks

Interesting there's still no transfer request from Paddy. Not back for training yet but that wouldn't stop him if he felt strongly about a move. Maybe he finds the challenge ahead of us as exciting as a Premier League move? It's good thing if he's waiting to come back to talk to the owners.
