I know that and understand that, I'm not arguing that! I'm saying as a club I wouldn't be paying 40k per week to one player.... Squad harmony etc, living within our means, not paying stupid wages.
Of course in a perfect world we would have kept Abel but let's be fair we where never going to and I'd rather have his "40k" split over 3/4 players. Each to their own opinion wise
Never fear. The radio said yesterday that the Head of Recruitment returns from his holiday next week.
He must have really needed that holiday, poor chuck.
Firstly allowing his contract to run down was naive at best. However having reached that point we could have may be offered say £20k per week, a signing on fee of £1m for a one year contract with option to extend, with a proportion of any future transfer fee shared between Abel and the club. a WIN WIN situation. As it is we have lost our best striker for nothing with the clubs sole aim being to get him off the books. For what its worth Adkins doesn't come out of it too well either, as it stands he hasn't managed to get a single out of contract player to stay and re-sign, whilst also spouting the owners crap.
That is good to know. I think with everybody being all doom and gloom about the out of contract players all leaving it has been overlooked that by some miracle we have managed to keep hold of our Head of Recruitment. There must have been other clubs circling for such a successful football recruitment genius.
more incompetence.....theres a right time for a holiday and during a transfer window isn't it !
