Same for me, England being my main team with Japan a good second due to Maya and the fact I like the country anyway, even speak a bit of Japanese.

Actually fortunate enough to have spent over a month in Japan. Their neurosurgeons saved my dad's life. If it isn't England then I hope I can cheer them on. Oh also Yoshi!!

I don't really mind as long as the tournament is more like 2014 than 2010! Usually support the underdog over the bigger teams and I feel there will definitely be a few surprises! In last WC I was routing for Germany as the missus is half German but I'd rather see another winner this time. Have a feeling it will be Spain. I reckon England will get to the QF and go down in gallant failure

I know what you mean. England became my second team while in the process of watching them play Iceland... culminating in just enjoying watching them fail.

Don't really "support" anyone in international tournaments. Like to wum England fans who get annoyed that I don't give a **** about the national team but apart from that I just watch as a neutral.

This year though, as per my avatar, Denmark will ****ing smash it.

Mmmm, there's more cynicism directed towards England than I expected. Of course, I'll support them, but more out of a sense of obligation than any patriotic fervor. As for Japan, it's my dream to visit there one day and I do love Japanese culture so I guess I'll have a soft spot for their football team as well.

I did actually see Japan's women's team at the Olympics at the Ricoh Arena. Good times.

Always support England (or GB as relevant) in any sporting event.

I don't understand how people don't support their country as I don't really see it as a choice similar to club. Understandable if people don't like international football in general but you get people who like watching international football but actively dislike their country, it's weird.

I bet most in the latter group would take an interest should we find ourselves in the semi finals. Much like all the Saints fans who didn't care about the league cup until we were 1-0 up against Liverpool...

    Spot on!

I have always been a passionate England fan. Since 2012 I have stopped dragging my England tat out of the loft (Oh I used to be really, really bad, with flags and shot everywhere), however I will be cheering us on and getting oissed off when we balls it up!

    I care.

Oh and I will probably mow the grass in an England flag again, partly because it annoys Mrs F

I have also stopped sending out my tournament text messages to mates 2 months before each tournament.

The messages simply said: “I think we’re gonna win it.”

I think it's just the 'fashionable' English thing. You won't find this in other countries......they may recognise that their team won't win, but cannot imagine supporting another team....except as a second team for some historic reason.

It is quite simple for me, I just don't really care. I can't get enthusiastic about a team that plays about 5 games a year normally which I wont watch (as international friendlies/qualifiers are ****) and is filled with players I normally hope fail on a weekly basis. I will watch the tournaments as I am a football fan, but really couldn't care less how England do.

I just want to see England players playing with passion and no pressure on expectations.

I think we can cause a few upsets with a bit of luck.

Also the World Cup is annoyingly commercialised but the hole world is going to love it. I’ll try and watch as many games as I can!

Uh, no sorry, not "everyone" will be supporting England...

I'll be following Japan, Iceland and probably Italy.
