He's been out injured for over 2 months. Klopp and the club have known for a long time that he was off to pastures new hence not re-signing. As for getting stick at the game - that's your lot's style, not ours <laugh>
It’s because they’re ahead of schedule. A champions league final wasn’t supposed to come yet. Those holes were to be filled at a later date. Hindsight proves they should’ve moved earlier, but to be this far ahead in the project was unexpected.

I agree about Can, he’s done to you lot what Barkley was intent on doing to us, until we shunted him in January.

Quite how he’s escaped much flack for it I’ve no idea, and I’m equally stunned that he somehow got his arse on the bench in a major final on Saturday.

Probably because he’s played whenever fit and given his all, whilst keeping quiet about his future until the end of the season.

I’m not sure what else you would have expected him to do?

excellent quote there.

in the end... irrespective of intent you must do the basics and imo there was a thing in karius' mind which was very basic. I think we are biased towards giving ball central and to cbs and train as such and he rejected a faster better pass to Robertson as we prob say it's too easy close down.

in other words he was on autopilot and not seeing the danger.

Do you think the Ramos elbow on him 2 mins before the first goal could have had an impact?

Because he was the best option we had available?

I wouldn’t have cared. If a player decides he’s definitely ****ing off, he can **** off, but he doesn’t play, not for me.

You should have ****ed him off in January

Oliver Kahn in fact suggested that. He may be biased. Regardless, the responsibility there would definitely be on Karius to realize his marbles have been shaken and pull himself or call for medical attention at least.

Then you’re a bitter old man. You won’t have any respect for any Everton player cus they’ll all want to leave eventually

If a player wants to go and sticks in a transfer request then they can go, not a problem.

A player who deliberately runs down their contract and is disingenuous about their intentions by making the club think they’re still likely to sign a new deal e.g. Barkley, then gets into their last year and shows their hand, is purely about greed and totally disrespects the club who they play for, as it denies them a fee when they leave. Which is done solely to allow the player to get a bigger contract and a larger signing on fee.

As someone who doesn’t hand over their hard earned to actually go to the match I’m not surprised in the slightest that you have no understanding of how this ‘old man’ feels about players like that wearing the shirt.

FIFA generation blert.

don't agree really.

look we had to stick can in cos.we had nobody else.. simple.

can is in his rights contractually to.not.sign anything.and klopp was.happy.to play him and not sell and lose the player without a replacement lined up.

there.nothing in law.forcing someone to stay and let a club have a few and imo it's common enough in Europe and Germany especially.

I do think can wasn't to bothered but he has missed the world.cup.here so he can't have been same bagging.

Listen, the simple fact that he went into the last year of his contract is down to either;

1. Poor management by not offering a new deal early enough and protecting the value of your asset. What’s he worth in today’s market, £25m? I very much doubt that this is the case here.

2. The player and his management made all the right noises to the club about signing a new deal, to avoid being forcibly sold last summer (or even the summer before), without any real intention of that ever happening.

How anyone can defend a player in this scenario is beyond me. The greedy ****ers already get a kings ransom to wear the shirt, running down a deal and getting a Bosman is about one thing and one thing alone - CASH.

If a player forces a move mid contract, he’s seen as a mercenary and disloyal.

If a player honours his contract but he’s a still seen as disloyal?

When it came to coutinho, I could completely understand the anger towards because he was refusing to play and making noise. At least in Can’s instance, he remained professional and gave it his all.

Players are allowed to leave clubs you know.

See my last post.

Also, at least the player who puts a request in is being honest. The player who runs his deal down is dishonest by definition and does his club out of a fee to replace him and his actions are driven purely by greed.

look he was a 10mil.buy who we offered x,y and z to and he would.not sign so we decided to keep rather than sell and spend more on his replacement.

we reject a real offer from juve last summer albeit smaller than his value.

imo he didn't give us the eyes like Owen did but equally we don't know who was in press on each side so I can't say what signals were given.

it was clear he played.his usual level and imo he didn't decide on way or other as he would have done precontract in january.

I think personally he was.holding out for someone else that never came in.

in any event trust me. this is.pretty normal for germans.

sorry I simply cannot agree that running down a contract is dishonest when it is by law his right to do so.

it's what's said outside of that that's attributable to him personally that may be dishonest but he never said I will sign for lfc again.

if you want to debate that we should have sold him.last summer fair enough.

my view has always been that we make do. and in this case I thought we rather have the guy than spend on a replacement even at the loss of the fee

It’s either dishonest or ****e management as I’ve already explained, take your pick.

I doubt you’d have the same view if he was a true star player with a massive market value, rather than a pretty **** beaut with a Lego head.

I really don't see this at all. How is it dishonest? I'd far rather a player runs his contract down if he doesn't want to stay than sign a new one knowing full well they plan on leaving very soon - see Suarez, Coutinho - now that's dishonesty.
