Karius just threw his shirt into the Liverpool fans and someone threw it back... he still didn’t manage to catch it.
So Karius must go downs as our worst GK ever. So a new GK is a must - it always was tbh. My preference is Oblak. not sure he's for sale if I'm honest but it's pointless buying anyone to play ahead of a crap keeper as we found out last night. It must be priority #1.
My gut feeling is that Alisson is the one that Klopp wants, but Roma will probably price us out of a deal - they will definitely want more than their money's worth after the Salah deal.
Then we have no choice. The world and his hamster will know that we're desperate for one and will price accordingly.
Dunnarumma is the guy I think we'll sign. Very young but from all accounts he is incredibly mature and calm. Him, Allison or Oblak. Hope we don't buy an unknown and take the risk. If it costs 100mil for Oblak...just pay it.
Yeah. Mingolet is gone.. Karius is shattered Ward isn't a prem keeper Simple really. I doubt we were actually sniffing round donnamura but he bis the one where Milan need money and we could move fast. Do that and risk that he is good enough We need kieta, fekir and imo still two forwards. If one of those can be wilson great but i think we all see thisvis the case. It's tough but we were within 45mins of cl title... even 40 odd at 1-1 The differences are clear between our first team fully fit and us struggling but we need players to come in and really compete not bench warm as reserves.
Klopp will know the decent keepers around who may be available.........we shouldn't have to pay £80m or so to find a good one
I wonder whether Mig might be tempted to stick around thinking he might get his place back? I hope not. I do think he's marginally better than Karius when all aspects of keeping are taken into account, but neither are up to the standard we need if we are to progress further.
It's Klopp who thought Karius was up to the job, when most of us on here (who were honest about it) had grave doubts. Don't get me wrong, Klopp has worked wonders and I'm fully behind him, but he seems to have a blind spot here.
I have supported Karius this season because I think he has been largely reliable and the best option we have between the sticks. Somebody mentioned he has cost us many points this season.......that's not true from what I've seen. He's a young keeper learning his trade, but I don't think we can let last night slide. Bales second goal should have been saved, yet we see this time and time again where shots from distance deceive goalkeepers and slip through their hands. Its the first goal that really shouldn't be happening, call it a lack of concentration or whatever but that was ****ing atrocious. For it to happen in the EC final is..
This is where I disagree - although he had definitely improved. I think there are areas where he's better than Mig, but the reverse is true as well. Neither of them are good enough overall.
No I think I saw him just walk past klopp and klopp past him last night when klopp was patting his guys on the arse. Mingolet got dropped for doing exactly what karius did but against arsenal. Remember mingolet no being ready for free kick as well? Both have same issues. With respect to karius the same issues happen time after time. He has not good awareness but he palms stuff right out in front not to the side. Their offside goal for example but he did it a second time too. The lad must be low today and needs support but lfc need better if we want to win something.
I'd agree. Karius has done his best he is better at playing faster and coming out but he is not that good at the basics.
He's better at dominating his box and at sweeping, but as you say, he pushes the ball out into the danger area far too often. We saw this on the highlights video that was put out when we first bought him, and he just doesn't seem to have improved in that area at all.
it's one of the most basic parts of coaching so I assume every coach that's had him tries to get him to get it away from danger zones but at his age... well I can't see it changing. as i said.. when navas knows nothing about it and it sticks like glue but karius is trying to get us moving but fails to see any danger it says it all. navas is not very good at all but gets the medal. sometimes luck.just says it's not your night.
I think people hugely exaggerate how many points keepers cost or gain sides. it's impossible to say how many points karius costs or de gea gains. the thing is if the team hasn't confidence in each other then bad decisions are made and points are cost. imo he doesn't see danger personally. he turned and had to know benzene was there but he was throwing to a guy with back k to play anyway whereas he turned away from Robertson who was completely free to do it.
that was what got me about it . Throwing to Robertson seemed the best option never mind the fact Benzema wasn't in a position to interfere with that throw.
