Nabil Fekir has denied he is close to becoming Liverpool's first summer signing, insisting he is yet to decide his future. The Reds will ramp up their attempts to sign the Lyon captain now the season is over, with the France international identified as the man to fill Philippe Coutinho's boots at Anfield.
as in no offers yet. if we haven't made one then we cpuld be looking at a case of being used to get name out there.
The most bizarre Liverpool transfer rumour of the window emerges… http://www.empireofthekop.com/2018/...erpool-transfer-rumour-of-the-window-emerges/
Clearly trying Celtic to commit to making a bid. Using Club B (us) to get Club A (Celtic) fear they might loose out if they don't bid now and met the asking price.
Tbh what annoyed me most in the last two seasons was Klopp's GK rotation as that didn't help anyone. You could see the relative improvement in Karius once he was established as first choice but for all we know the same could have happened with Mignolet as, apart from after the Arsenal howler, he was usually dropped while in decent to good form. The fact remains though that a team that wants to win trophies cannot settle with either keeper.
And so the goalkeeper rumours begin. Today it is Alisson of Roma Tomorrow who knows If we do buy, I feel a world record fee coming on....
We will see... thank god for world cup eh? once Allison is in wc... and he is already in camp this will all go away to a tolerable made up level... until england crash out of course. we won't be buying him anyway but no deal is possible tjere for anyone til august
Karius did improve this season and he is better than Migs - he also helps to start attacks a lot quicker. can he develop into a quality keeper? I think he can. But can we afford to wait for him to do that? I don’t know. I wouldn’t be surprised if we signed him Alisson and kept Karius as back up? Anyways, I’m not fussed about Karius being upgraded as priority. No doubt that it’s on the list but for me, there are two bigger issues: - fast attacker. We lost all momentum once salah went off. Lallana offered nothing, and the lack of pace hurt us. Dembele is the ideal signing - midfielders. Our attackers didn’t much of the ball because our midfielder offered sod all. Henderson refuses to take risks and kills our attacks.
Liverpool are set to step up their search for a new goalkeeper with Roma's Brazil international Alisson and Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid and Slovenia, both 25, among the main targets. (Mirror) Lyon's France forward Nabil Fekir, 24, says he is "not close" to a move to Liverpool and will take time to think about his future. (Telefoot via Sky Sports) Liverpool will offer England centre-back Joe Gomez a contract extension, despite the 21-year-old still having four years remaining on his current deal at Anfield.
You're being selective. Karius is better than Mig at some things, but not overall. Neither is good enough to help us move on. Neither of those positions you mentioned lost us the game, so whilst I agree they need improvement, I think you're being far too complacent over the GK position. It needs to be improved urgently.
I disagree that Migs is better overall. Don’t forget that Migs has had far more time to deliver at Liverpool as well as having spent more time in PL before he joined. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to bring Alison or Oblak. But the thought of spending £50m plus on a keeper is a bit scary. The reason I say it’s not as urgent is because even without karius’s mistakes, I don’t see how we would have won. Because our attack lost its shape and intent once Salah went off, and we had a midfield that offered little in terms of going forward. But we will add more to our squad this summer and we will be stronger. And we will reach many more finals.
I understand your points but frankly, we can have another 5 decent outfield players and we'd still concede those 3 goals against Madrid. If he can't concentrate for 90 minutes at 24, he never will. For me now, our priorities are (1) GK (2) fast FW who plays anywhere in front three (3) Creative CM (4) CB (1) Oblak (2) Pulisic (winger atttacking midfielder but would work imo) (3) Lucas Torriera/Fekir (4) Lascelles? Struggling here tbh and Gomez may move inside.
I didn't actually say that, I said Karius isn't better overall. I did say that I think neither are good enough. I do believe that the things that Mig is better at are probably more important, but I realise that that is a debatable point. We need better than either.
I remember Ryan Babel scoring like that against Chelsea in the CL. Cech was in goal, shame his career ended so abruptly because of that game
