Well, well, well.

It seems that the Home Office is having a crackdown on Russian oligarchs, and Abramovic, Chelsea's "mad dog" owner, isn't being permitted back into the country, as his old VISA has expired.

He is applying for a new VISA, but he's having to prove that he acquired his money legally.

According to the Telegraph:

"...the Home Office is demanding to know how Abramovich - who legend has it began his entrepreneurial career selling rubber ducks from his Moscow apartment - became a billionaire."

This is a non-story.

Everyone knows he made his billions selling
uranium-enriched rubber ducks to Iran (very
popular there - they glow in the dark - so useful
when power cuts occur) .

Of course the criminal has the advantage of knowing what they’re doing before the authorities do. As with any criminal activity.

However, in the City the kinds of activity that used to be the most prevalent some years ago are almost impossible to get away with now.

Do you know if Abravovich was added to the US Sanction list recently, I know there was talk of it, but i don't know if it happened?

The issue for the likes of him isn’t laundered cash, unless he’s got a billion pound lemo trade on the side...

His income will no doubt be legitimate, what the issue is for the oligarchs, is how they obtained the source of their wealth i.e. USSRs natural resources. The U.K. authorities have **** all chance of proving that was bent from here, so this is all about being seen to put the pressure on blokes like Abramovich who everyone knows started out as little more than gangsters who stole their nations and thus the people’s rightful assets. It’s pure tokenism imo.

A bit like Thatcher selling off the nationalised UK owned assets of the cheap, and Dennis and scores of Tory vultures were all at the front of the queue to get their slice of the nations pie.

I’m sure they’re just rattling his cage, mate.

As you say, tracing whether he obtained his wealth illegally or not in 1990’s Russia is gonna be next to impossible to do. Especially as Putin is hardly likely to cooperate.

In short, he’s a crook. Everybody knows it, but proving enough to deny him a visa might be very difficult.

Just a question, because i'm not sure, but is this not more to do with the US and Trump imposing further sanctions. If so then we would also have to comply with any sanction checks?
I doubt it. Any US imposed sanctions are irrelevant to us unless we’ve agreed to officially duplicate them.

The oligarchs are virtually all mates of Putin, this is about making them feel uncomfortable imo, the reason the likes of Abramovich came here and bought a British institution i.e. a football club, was more about his desire to seek legitimacy more than his love of football.

I believe they have to be imposed at EU level, so you would be right <ok>

So the real question is will the Chavs go to the dogs?

If RA cant get into the UK will he spend money on new players?

They'll let him in eventually. This is just some @brb type jobsworth in Boris' dept playing Charlie Big Potatoes. Eventually he'll be taken off the "case", and the red carpet will be rolled out once again for Roman and his money.

You still rattled, go and deliver some letters <ok>

I know I'm probably being thick here, but if there is the slightest doubt over the source of his wealth that he has to account for it, shouldn't the British government being freezing his assets until the information is brought forward?

Are you suggesting that the likes of Hazard and Willan should be seized?

Why?
The guy was bent as ****, as all Russian Oil Magnates are.
He just wants to hope he has done a good job of cleaning his act up since he has been in the UK.

The **** that happened in Russia, they will never uncover the truth of, and this is probably some grand standing from the Home Office because of the recent political tensions with Russia. They are ****ing with him.

Okay, mate!

Don’t shoot the messenger!

It’s not as though I nicked his rubber ducks, yeah?

True, if he really cared about football he wouldn't have bought Chelsea.
