    2009.

A couple of weeks after it came into effect, I travelled to the
USA and had not done it. Sarky USA customs guy said :

What would you say if I said you could be sent home now ??
    My reply was :

    1. Well my client will be very pissed off.

    2. If this thing is now in effect, WTF was I made to fill in the
old paper forms on the flight ??

I used to go to the US every 6 weeks and never had to sort any kind of visa waiver out so assumed the rules were still the same. Fortunately I had to call BA about our flight and they asked whether we'd sorted our ESTA out. I told them we weren't travelling with anyone called Esther. I've sorted it now.

    The rules say this:
We must not have reason to believe that:
    • you are not in control of, and at liberty freely to invest the, money specified in your application;
    • any of the money held by you, or being made available to you by a third party, has been acquired by means of conduct which is unlawful in the UK, or would constitute unlawful conduct if it occurred in the UK; or
    • the character, conduct or associations of any third party providing funds is such that approval of the application would not be conducive to the public good. We may not award points where we have reasonable grounds to believe one or more of the above applies.

If they don't want him then they could easily find reasonable grounds....

It's probably just the Tories angling for another bribe... er, I mean freely given donation.
The other team that Chelsea will be sharing the Olympic stadium with had to do it, so why shouldn't he?

  10. If Abramovic struggles to prove the legitimacy of the source of his funds, he won’t get an entry VISA.

    It really is that simple.

The onus of proof is on Abramovic, not the UK.

  12. Not at all.

What? Do you still pay to watch games?

    How passé!

You need to get on board the corporate hospitality gravy train, mate.

    It’s a hoot!

Before RA bought Chelsea there was a Fike prepared on him by FBI/cia etc. It was all to do with money laundering and was available to the public for a short while, but then mysteriously take away.

RA bought Chelsea and the big name signings like shevchenko et al were all about cleaning up his money

Football was the new "washing" industry and why the likes of mansur etc got involved in football.

Mansour didn’t get involved with football to launder money ffs.

His aim was to buy a football billboard to promote his desert state and try and make it into the new Dubai for when the oil runs out. I reckon it’s been a decent investment, given the column inches and TV coverage they’ve generated for Abu Dhabi. not to mention the fact that they’d get most of their dosh back if they sold the club tomorrow. Better value than spending the dosh on traditional advertising.
