A sad example of how a staunch and loyal servant of the club can be given the bums rush by people who have no loyalty whatsoever. He may never be the most gifted player we have had at our club but he gave his all and wore the shirt with pride. Good luck David it' been a peasure to have you wear OUR shirt.

To be fair I was one who probably criticized him (unfairly) at times for lack of quality in the Premier League. However, it is years like this season that you realise how important a player like David Meyler is. Absolutely top bloke who gave his absolute all for our club, and to us fans that really means a lot when you see what is happening to our club now.

I hope he finds a club who will give him the game time he deserves, he seems the type of bloke who will just go somewhere to play football and not care about money.

Without getting too dewy-eyed about this he's a pro and knows what's happening at the club - I really hope he doesn't take it too personally (the decision not the manner of execution) as anybody that's not nailed down to a contract will be off. He deserved a better send-off than this.
