Former Roma players apologise after making obsence gesture at Liverpool badge

Two former Roma players have apologised after being photographed making an obscene gesture in front of Liverpool's club crest at Anfield.
The image, which has since been deleted, was shared by Roberto's daughter, Roberta, on social media ahead of the Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday, which Liverpool won 5-2.
A contrite Conti said: “A private moment was made public without being aware of it, turning it into an inappropriate gesture of which I feel the I need to apologize.

“I have been in the football world for a lifetime and in the last 25 years I have tried to convey my values to all the guys with whom I found myself working, starting from respect for my opponent.

“I've never offend any club, let alone a team as glorious as Liverpool. My respect for an opponent who over the years I have always faced with loyalty is out of the question.”
Pruzzo said: “If someone has been offended then we apologise.”

Back in 1984, Pruzzo scored Roma's goal during normal time in the 1-1 draw while Conti missed a penalty in the shoot-out, which Liverpool won 4-2.

Conti, who is Roma's youth director, and Pruzzo were both at Anfield working as pundits for Italian television.

Roberto Pruzzo and Bruno Conti, who were part of the Roma team beaten by Liverpool in the 1984 European Cup, were snapped raising their middle finger towards the badge.

Liverpool constantly played long ball against Roma, says Daniele De Rossi

Roma won't shut up about Barcelona. They sound [HASHTAG]#desperate[/HASHTAG] like a lottery winner who blows all their money and goes around saying "it's not impossible, it's happened before"

They conceded 5 in the first place because they played the same system as the Barcelona win [HASHTAG]#thatwentwell[/HASHTAG]

He's being somewhat liberal with his definition of a long ball. There were some early 30 yard passes to the forwards but the 1st goal came from a high press in their half; 2nd started with a VVD clearance, which didn't even leave our half, then Salah and Firmino beat five of them; 3rd was a 30-yarder down the wing to Salah; 4th was a shorter one to Salah in the same place for the same outcome; 5th was Firmino's header from a corner.

Their 1st was a 30-yard pass over the top to Dzeko, no shorter than ours to Salah and similar in beating the back four, apart from ours being played a bit further back and the attack having more to do than Dzeko.

We only played trad long balls from Karius once Salah had gone off, which actually benefitted Roma, who kept getting possession back cheaply.

Bayern have been in slow decline for years, don't take their defeat as some great Real victory. bayern literally have no competition in the Bundes.. none. Madrid lost 5 games in La Liga this season n drew 8 too, you think madrid aren't hoping Roma knock us out? they are..
[HASHTAG]#believe[/HASHTAG]

My comment had nothing to do with last night's game. I'd rather play Real Madrid as I think that game suits us more

Another hack trying to make a name for himself off the backs of 135 dead supporters, and apparently the Liverpool supporter critically injured by Roma thugs brought it on himself because he's a Liverpool supporter and responsible for two tragedies and every other hooligan related act carried out by so called supporters of LFC.

Wembley: Football Association offered £800m to sell national football stadium

Fulham owner Shahid Khan has made an offer, thought to be worth a total of £800m, to buy Wembley Stadium from the Football Association.

It is understood Khan's bid includes £500m for the stadium and £300m for the FA to keep the Club Wembley debenture and hospitality business.

The FA board discussed the approach at a meeting on Thursday.

"We would strive to be the best possible steward for a venue that is iconic," said Khan.

The owner of NFL side Jacksonville Jaguars added: "Wembley would return to private ownership and The Football Association would be able to focus on its core mission of developing players.

"I trust many if not most of you are also supporters of the England national teams, so I hope you welcome the potential of this becoming a reality."

Fulham coach Slavisa Jokanovic said at a news conference on Thursday that Khan told him "about his plan a year and a half ago. He's very ambitious."

BBC Sport understands selling Wembley would allow the FA to make a major investment into football at grassroots level.

The 90,000-seat stadium, which is the largest in the United Kingdom, cost £757m to build and opened in 2007.

The FA said in January it would finish paying for the ground by the end of 2024.

Tottenham have played their home Premier League games at Wembley this season while work on their new stadium takes place.

What about NFL matches?
Spurs also have a deal with the NFL to stage a minimum of two games a season over 10 years once their new stadium is complete.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said the link-up with the NFL was a "compelling and exciting partnership".

NFL executive vice-president Mark Waller said having stadium options in London has been "critical to the NFL".

His statement added: "The potential purchase of Wembley Stadium is a further powerful sign of their commitment to the UK and their vision to help us grow the sport.

"This new relationship would allow for even greater flexibility in scheduling future NFL games in London."

Who is Shahid Khan?
BBC Radio London's Andy Rowley

Khan came to prominence in England when buying Fulham in 2013 from Mohamed Al-Fayed.

The 67-year-old was born in Lahore, Pakistan but moved to America at the age of 16 to study engineering and went on to become a billionaire as an automobile parts manufacturer.

Khan's current net worth is $7.2bn (£5.2bn), making him the 217th richest person in the world according to the 2018 Forbes rich list, and the 73rd richest in the United States.

Khan bought NFL franchise Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011 and they have had a deal to play "home" games at Wembley since 2013. The contract for that is in place until 2020 as the Jaguars have tried to put themselves at the forefront of the NFL links with London.

Fulham are pushing for a return to the Premier League, having been relegated to the Championship in 2014 soon after Khan's arrival, while Jacksonville had their best season for a decade, reaching the AFC Championship game before being beaten by New England Patriots.

Khan has stated that any prospective deal for Wembley will have no impact on his commitment to Fulham and the proposed redevelopment of the Riverside stand.

Khan's son, Tony, has been vice chairman and director of football operations at Fulham since February 2017, having previously advised on football operations.

What a ****in scumbag

See the FA have fined Wigan because of the pitch invasion after they beat City.

I also see City haven't been fined for the same offence plus setting smoke bombs off after their victory against Swansea.
