Philippe Coutinho is not yet living up to high expectations at Barcelona, says Terry Gibson.

Coutinho moved to Barcelona in January from Liverpool for £146m, scoring three goals and registering two assists in 13 appearances so far for the La Liga side, who are unbeaten in the top flight.

After his debut was delayed due to a hamstring issue, Coutinho has only sporadically shown glimpses of the form that warranted his huge price tag, and Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Gibson was expecting more.

Tbf, £140m does buy some pretty high expectations. Give him time.

If he keeps failing on the expectations we should offer to take him back. We keep the money already paid and forget the rest.

Liverpool spent £26.7 million on fees for intermediaries and agents in 12 months and Premier League clubs overall topped the £200m mark for the first time.

Figures released by the Football Association on Tuesday showed Liverpool paid out more than any other club, closely followed by reigning Premier League champions Chelsea and this season's table-toppers Manchester City.
